Christmas is just around the corner—our phenomenal Christmas programs begin this Friday! But I’m excited to announce that this Christmas season, we have a packed calendar of concerts, programs, and more happening at both attractions. You’ll want to explore the list below, mark your calendars for your favorite events, and bring the whole family to celebrate the season.
First we’ll start with everything happening at the Creation Museum. Each event is free—you just pay for parking!
- ChristmasTown at the Creation Museum. Tour our dazzling garden of lights and be among the first to see our brand-new, four-glasshouse, climate-controlled conservatory featuring plants of the Bible. Reflect on the true meaning of Christmas at our live nativity, then warm up inside with live dramas. Explore our newly expanded zoo, play at the playground, and—on select nights—enjoy two free hands-on family programs. Enjoy ChristmasTown on Tuesdays–Saturdays, November 29–January 4, from 5:00–8:30 p.m. (closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day).
- ASL-interpreted programs. Our wonderful, live indoor dramas and the Encounter the Wonder program in our 4D theater will be ASL interpreted on Friday, December 20.
- Joyful Voices of Christmas. This heartwarming evening of live music will feature our Answers Academy students, Ray Cummins, and many more—including myself for one item on the piano. Join us on Tuesday, December 3, at 6:15 p.m. in Legacy Hall. Donations in support of Children’s Hunger Fund, a wonderful gospel-centered mercy ministry, will be welcome.
And here’s what’s taking place for Christmas over at the Ark Encounter. Unless otherwise noted, each event is free—you just pay for parking.
- ChristmasTime at the Ark Encounter. Take in our brilliant lights display and catch our new laser show on the side of the Ark. Meet the animals in our zoo, ride the carousel, enjoy live animal programs, and—on select nights—enjoy The Good News of Christmas, a family Christmas concert featuring our Dove-award-nominated resident artists, TrueSong. ChristmasTime runs Tuesday–Saturday, November 29–January 4, from 5:00–8:30 p.m. (closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day).
- ASL-interpreted programs. Encounter the Wonder, our laser projection show that was filmed on the side of the Ark, along with two of our animal encounters, will be ASL interpreted on Thursday, December 19.
- Bethlehem’s Cry: Christmas Through the Eyes of a Hurting Heart. Our Answers Academy students will turn the Answers Center into first-century Bethlehem as they tell an original story of a young girl who needs answers when tragedy strikes the town. This Christ-honoring program, answering very real questions about suffering and pain, is a wonderful opportunity to share the gospel with unbelievers this Christmas. Visitors at the Ark can enjoy this free program on Friday, December 6, at 6:30 p.m.
- Ernie Haase & Signature Sound concert. Enjoy selections from this four-part harmony’s A Jazzy Little Christmas Tour. Our resident artists, TrueSong, will also be performing, and I’ll be giving a Christmas message. This event is free with Ark Encounter admission on Saturday, December 7, at 2 p.m.
- Good News: A Musical Drama. Come and rejoice in the incarnation with a live drama from God’s Bible School & College and Aldersgate Christian Academy on Saturday, December 7, at 6:30 p.m.
- Creation Choir & Orchestra: True Christmas. This concert features a wonderful, full symphony orchestra and a joyous Christmas choir leading in carols and Christmas songs, with special selections by gifted vocalists. Join your voices with ours on Saturday, December 14, at 7 p.m.
- Living History: Christmas Event. Reenactors in historically accurate costumes will take you back to first-century Israel to discover the historical and cultural background of Christ’s birth and the Christmas season—including Hanukkah, the Maccabean revolt, and the everyday lives of women, featuring Mary and Elizabeth. Living History happens Friday and Saturday, December 13–14, during ChristmasTime.
- Outdoor Christmas concerts. Enjoy beautiful Christmas music and carols during two outdoor concerts while surrounded by our sea of lights on Tuesday, December 17, at 6:30 p.m. and Saturday, December 21, at 5:30 p.m.
- Karen Peck & New River concert. Christmas classics and new music are coming to the Answers Center stage with this multi-award-winning Southern Gospel group. Our resident artists will also be featured, and Ray Flynn will give a Christmas message. This free concert (you only pay for parking) occurs on Saturday, December 28, at 5:30 p.m.
Whew—you see now why I told you to start marking your calendars! There’s so much happening this season, and you won’t want to miss any of it as we joyfully celebrate the Light of the world stepping into his creation to save sinners.
Thanks for stopping by and thanks for praying,
Ken
