At the Ark Encounter, we recently hosted two events geared toward young people—our first-ever STEM Challenge and our annual Creation College Expo. Both events went very well, with one STEM team winning $5,000 (sponsored by Bob Jones University).
Teams of students from across the country came to the Ark for a one-day design competition. The purpose of the challenge was for students ages 14–18 to collaborate in a friendly competition by putting their critical thinking and creative design skills to the test. Each team (composed of two to four students and one adult leader) built a wind turbine prior to competition day. Each wind turbine was tested for functionality, output, and energy output. Then each team did a presentation on their design process and build concept before a panel of judges—AiG’s Rob Webb, Kevin Hadsall, and Jessica DeFord. The winning team from Bonners Ferry, Idaho, won $5,000. I thought you’d enjoy photos of the teams’ designs.
It’s all part of AiG’s mission to help equip young people and raise up generations who can defend the Christian faith and have a biblical worldview.
It’s all part of AiG’s mission to help equip young people and raise up generations who can defend the Christian faith and have a biblical worldview. We also want to encourage such students to seek out Christian colleges that stand on God’s Word without compromise, beginning in Genesis. That’s why we hosted the event right before our Creation College Expo.
And, once again, that event was a resounding success. Our expo is a special time when Christian colleges, universities, and Bible colleges that stand with Answers in Genesis on the authority of God’s Word beginning in Genesis set up booths in the Answers Center. We then invite students in grades 7–12 to register for free to attend this now three-day event. Registered students receive free admission to the Ark Encounter, and their families receive special discounts to both attractions. During the expo, students experience powerful teaching, great music, and more.
This year, students loved the stage production of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe (from the Chronicles of Narnia series) put on by Logos Theatre, associated with The Academy of Arts in South Carolina. They also loved the first-ever live episode of Answers TV’s Tilt Shift.
Students were given a fantastic opportunity to connect with representatives from some of the top Christian colleges nationwide that stand with AiG. Each student was given lots of goodies, including a T-shirt with the words “Genesis 1–11, The Foundation for Everything.”
Don’t miss our free Creation College Expo 2025. Mark your calendars!
Thanks for stopping by and thanks for praying,
Ken
