Beverly LaHaye, founder of Concerned Women for America, passed away yesterday at the age of 94.
Beverly LaHaye is a poster child for the amazing things God can do through a willing heart. While in the trenches of motherhood, Beverly began to see a transformation in her life as she sought to serve the Lord both in her home and wherever else God would lead. And lead he did. Beverly would go on to found Concerned Women for America, an organization created to advocate for women’s rights, family values, and religious liberty.
Mark Looy, an AiG cofounder, knew “Bev” well. He recalls, “I first met Bev in 1973 in San Diego. She was so introverted—it’s a word she even used to describe herself at the time—that she avoided public speaking of any kind. As I worked for her in the latter half of the 1970s and early ‘80s, I saw her blossom into a national figure who became a spokesperson for pro-family biblical truths. In just a few years, she had developed a steely resolve and confidence, yet retained her kindness. She founded and led CWA, met with presidents, and hosted a national radio talk show. I have never seen God transform a Christian as much as I witnessed in Bev. Ken and I were highly honored that she and her husband Tim, a bestselling author and former pastor, flew out from San Diego to attend the grand opening of our Ark Encounter in 2016.”
Beverly was a woman who stood firm on God’s truth and sought to live her life fully for him. And after a life well lived, she is now at rest in her forever home. I pray that we all seek to live a life in service to Christ with a commitment and fervor like Beverly.
By the way, Penny Nance, current CEO and president of CWA, spoke at our women's conference earlier this month at the Ark.
Thanks for stopping by and thanks for praying,
Ken
