In August of 2017, Answers in Genesis launched a brand-new Christian school, led by my eldest daughter, Renee Hodge. That school, Answers Academy, really is the result of the legacy my parents passed to me of passion for God’s Word and biblical authority—a passion we passed on to our children. It’s exciting to see her following her passion for biblical worldview within an educational context to provide a school that is not only a blessing to families here in Northern Kentucky but one that, we hope, will impact America and the world as it serves as a “model school.”
I encourage you to watch this six-and-a-half-minute video featuring Renee as she shares her testimony about what led to the founding of the school as part of the Answers in Genesis ministry as well as the challenges along the way. Initially Renee became a nurse, then after a few years she badly wanted to work in the AiG ministry, so she became my executive assistant. Then she had the burden to start a Christian academy, and as part of that, decided to do her Masters in Educational Leadership (you can learn more about the BJU Scope program on their website).
Answers Academy, which is a true discipleship school to help parents raise godly offspring, teaches a biblical worldview with high academics. A strategic plan for the school has been completed, with a vision—as I mentioned—to see this as a model school to impact other Christian schools around the nation, to form an online education division, and to work in conjunction with AiG’s education department to produce high-quality Christian school textbooks from a biblical worldview perspective. The first major curriculum under development right now is a Bible curriculum to teach all grades a truly biblical worldview (as we do with the Answers Bible Curriculum for Churches and Homeschool). This is sorely missing from most Christian schools and many homeschools.
AiG’s curriculum department is continuing to grow, and we need more curriculum writers. Also Answers Academy is in need of more teachers (middle school teachers, high school science teachers, etc.) for the coming year as this growing school will move at the end of the year into the new “headquarters” building AiG procured recently. Please tell others you know who might fit the job description about these open positions. The Answers in Genesis staff are like a great big family. You can become part of this talented family group.
Answers Academy has unique access to all the specialist scientists, science labs, speakers, researchers, and more at Answers in Genesis and our two attractions.
Answers Academy has unique access to all the specialist scientists, science labs, speakers, researchers, and more at Answers in Genesis and our two attractions. They enjoy special programs by the Ark Encounter and Creation Museum animal specialists, horticulturists, designers, and so on. The students also have access to the AiG observatory and planetarium for astronomy programs and, of course, have special access to all that’s available at the Ark Encounter and Creation Museum. All the school families also have unlimited access to these two attractions.
Actually, there have been a number of Christian families who have moved to Northern Kentucky to be close to the Ark Encounter and Creation Museum, to have their kids in Answers Academy, and so others in the family can work at the Ark or Creation Museum (staff receive a 50% discount on Answers Academy tuition). Of course, all students and parents go through an intensive interview process to determine eligibility.
I trust our daughter’s testimony encouraged and challenged you. We praise the Lord that all our children are actively involved in proclaiming the truth of God’s Word and the gospel to this world.
