Most people have heard of the story about Pandora’s box. (Apparently the original myth was about Pandora’s jar, but it’s commonly known as Pandora’s box). Just as there are Flood legends around the world (because there was a real worldwide Flood—Noah’s Flood—with the real account recorded in the Bible), there are also other legends with elements similar to Genesis. One of those is the legend of Pandora’s box. The pagan god Zeus gave man the first woman along with a box that had a warning not to open it. But Pandora did open it and it unleashed all the evils known to man. Certainly sounds like a remnant of the account of the Fall as recorded in Genesis 3.
I do believe that the decision of the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) to legalize gay “marriage” has, in a sense, opened Pandora’s box. For instance, here are just a few of the headlines to give you a sense of what is coming, what has been unleashed on the culture:
As I’ve said many times over the years, once a worldview is built on man’s opinions (man’s word) and not God’s Word, then, ultimately, anything goes! The best way to sum it up is from this verse of Scripture:
In those days there was no king in Israel; everyone did what was right in his own eyes. (Judges 21:25)
That verse is the “Pandora’s box” that SCOTUS opened. (Really, this box was being pried open more and more over the years—but the latest decision on gay “marriage” opened it widely.)
As one writer stated in an article titled, “Ending Tax Exemption means Ending Churches,”
Legal gay marriage is not the endgame for the gay-rights movement. It never was. Moral approval is the endgame. The agenda is not tolerance for different beliefs and lifestyles. The agenda is a demand that everyone get on board with the moral revolution or be punished. That means if you or your church won’t get with the program, then the revolutionaries will endeavor to close you down.
I totally agree—that’s really what it’s all about.
In Greek mythology, after the bad things come out, then something good also comes out. In the Bible, after the account of the Fall of man, God provides a solution in Jesus. God will use this situation with the ruling by SCOTUS for good—persecution has been known to awaken God’s people to increased fervor to serve Him and spread the gospel.
