Answers VBS programs across the country (and even internationally) kick off in just a few weeks. To give you some ideas and help you prepare, we’ve collected questions that VBS leaders just like you are asking on our Facebook Answers VBS Discussion Group. In this blog we’ll answer a sticky question. You can check out other past questions on our VBS blog.

Vivian B. asks, “What is the easiest way to get the glue off the soup cans for the Build-a-Bot pencil holders? Thanks!”

Answers included:

  • Heat. Boil the cans or put them in the oven and then scrape the glue off while it’s still hot.
  • Goo-Gone. Put the Goo-Gone on the glue and place a piece of paper towel over it for about 10 minutes.
  • WD-40. Fill a shallow dish with WD-40 and lay the glue side of the can in it. Scrub the glue off with a scouring pad.
  • Don’t bother! Just incorporate decorations that will cover the glue globs.

Bonus tip: cover the can edges with duct tape to ensure no cuts or sliced fingers!
