Publisher’s Pen: Winning the War for Our Children

Disney is not the only media company taking direct aim at the hearts and minds of our children. About a year before our social world was impacted by COVID-19, the long-trusted kids’ magazine Highlights launched an effort to present homosexuality as good and normal. And it joins Ranger Rick, National Geographic Kids, and others in their concerted efforts to indoctrinate children with the idea of Darwinian evolution.

With this in mind, our CEO Ken Ham recently called the Answers magazine team and a few others together for a rather urgent roundtable brainstorming meeting. Due to the onslaught of anti-Christian teaching that is impacting children today, the magazine team desired to increase what’s in Kids Answers while making Answers magazine even more appreciated and easier to access. There was much discussion and great excitement in the room. With Ken’s guidance and suggestions, we left with marching orders which have resulted in the two magazines you now hold.

We have again doubled the size of Kids Answers—there are now 32 pages! Within those pages, we have added more of the always popular animal facts and pictures that kids absolutely love. We moved the Created Creature and Unlocking Science sections from Answers to Kids Answers. We have added letters, jokes, and other things we receive from kids, and new sections like Explore Creation with colorful photos and Scripture Sleuth with an activity to get kids inside the Bible. In the words of editor in chief Sarah Eshleman, “The Creator is in everything we talk about,” and there are now even more activities that “entertain while informing.” Speaking of activities, we love that our Hidden Picture page is specially designed by a highly talented, Creator-loving artist whose work you’ve seen in the biggest secular kids’ magazines.

All this is with no increase in the subscription price—Kids Answers is still included when you subscribe to Answers. I hope that you’ll love perusing both—and if you don’t have children at home, pass Kids Answers along to your church or a neighbor family once you’re done!
