Answers in Genesis, which opened the Creation Museum outside Cincinnati last May, has again been named one of 30 “Shining Light” Christian ministries for 2007 by MinistryWatch.com, a donor-advocacy organization.

“We are honored to be recognized as a “Shining Light” ministry for the third year in a row, and we attribute that to a leadership team and staff—and our board of directors—who truly seek to live lives that are pleasing to God,” said Answers in Genesis founder and president Ken Ham. “Our donors can trust that their gifts are being used prayerfully and with good stewardship as we assist believers in learning how to defend their faith.”

Answers in Genesis is a biblical apologetics ministry which conducts more than 300 teaching meetings each year, hosts an award-winning website and produces the Answers with Ken Ham radio program heard on more than 900 stations throughout the United States. Its Creation Museum opened to international acclaim on Memorial Day and has attracted more than 282,000 visitors since then.

MinistryWatch.com helps Christian donors make more informed and effective giving decisions. It compiles its annual list of 30 ministries from the nearly 500 ministries for which it has financial and other information. The ministries on the list have demonstrated outstanding effectiveness and efficiency in their ministry and financial operations.

“Answers in Genesis is truly one of the “best of the best,” said Rusty Leonard, founder of MinistryWatch.com. “At a time when Senator Charles Grassley is calling on some of the worst organizations to live up to their minimum responsibilities of financial self-disclosure, we are pleased to recognize Answers in Genesis as a ministry that goes well beyond the minimum. The staff and supporters of Answers in Genesis can be justifiably proud of their fine organization.”

Rod Pitzer, Managing Director of Research for MinistryWatch.com, said, “Making the selection is challenging, given the selfless work so many fine ministries do.” But he added that these ministries were truly “exemplary” in the following categories:

  • They have a legitimate non-profit ministry and purpose.
  • They earn a Transparency Grade of “A” from MinistryWatch.com.
  • They are unashamed of being identified as an evangelical Christian ministry.
  • MinistryWatch.com knows of no issue that would be of concern to donors.
