Home: It’s Where the Heart Is, but Is It the Right Setting for ABC?

One of the most common questions I am asked about Answers Bible Curriculum is this: “Can I use it for homeschooling?” The answer is yes! Many homeschooling families use it successfully as a Bible or history curriculum. But, because it is designed for Sunday School, you will have to tweak it to make it work in your homeschooling.

There are two different ways to adapt ABC for homeschooling. The first method covers one lesson a week. With this method you will finish the ABC curriculum in four years. The second method covers one lesson each day, completing the curriculum in just one year.

If you would like to do one lesson a week you can accomplish that in one of two ways. You can choose one day a week when you do Bible or history, using ABC. A full lesson, including content and activities, takes approximately one hour. Or, if you would like to do a small portion of the lesson each day, you can do content one day and space out the activities throughout the week. Or consider splitting up the content and activities throughout the week.

Keep in mind that you won’t be able to use the same age-group lessons over those four years.

This method will allow you to use ABC over four years. Keep in mind that you won’t be able to use the same age-group lessons over those four years. Your student should, if possible, use the curriculum designed for their age. The great thing about ABC is that it is synchronized across ages, so, as they grow, you can simply purchase the next age up and start with the next lesson.

If you would like to have a Bible or history lesson each day, simply do one lesson a day, including content and activities, throughout the school week. ABC 2nd edition contains 200 lessons, 180 are new content and 20 are review. 180 days is roughly equivalent to a school year so, if you skip the review lessons, you will be able to finish the whole curriculum in one school year.

ABC is a great way of teaching children God’s Word, biblical authority, foundational thinking, and apologetics. Learn more, and try one month of lessons free, at AnswersBibleCurriculum.com.
