The Answers Conversation podcast at Answers in Genesis has concluded its run (2013–2015). Each week a new segment was featured, around 15 minutes each, to help listeners engage with all the current topics that Answers in Genesis addresses and to hear excellent teaching in a conversational format.
Answers in Genesis is also aware that in our day having a “conversation” can reflect a diluting of the truth. The arrival of postmodernism affected the way many in the church consider the word conversation. As some church leaders have forfeited the opportunity to teach the objective truth of Scripture, a new type of conversation has appeared, defined by the acceptance of views from everyone in the conversation. The “conversation” particularly displayed by notable advocates of the emergent church movement has become more about the appeasement of men in a false sense of tolerance rather than the glory of God alone.
This is our time to take back some ground on what a Christian conversation is. The Answers Conversation is a discussion of the objective propositional truth revealed to us by God through the men who were carried along by the Holy Spirit to give us His infallible, inerrant, and inspired Word. Most importantly, the Answers Conversation has been carefully positioned to guide us toward confidence in the Bible and the joy of the gospel.
It’s very important that these distinctions are made carefully. The apostle Paul made it very clear that his ministry to the church in Thessalonica was based upon his desire to please God rather than men. He wrote, “
For our appeal does not spring from error or impurity or any attempt to deceive, but just as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, so we speak, not to please man, but to please God who tests our hearts. For we never came with words of flattery, as you know, nor with a pretext for greed—God is witness” (1 Thessalonians 2:3–5, ESV). It is because of this stance that Paul’s affection for the people of Thessalonica was authentic. He desired to bring those he loved a saving truth rather than an appeasing lie.
We are excited about what the Lord has done with this program. Just like the Apostle Paul, our desire is that these conversations will help us to unite as Christians in the truth of Christ and His Word, and for His glory alone. As new ideas in the world have sought to discredit the Bible, the Answers Conversation dealt with up-to-date issues and discussed the Bible’s answer to humanistic ideas. Most importantly, the Answers Conversation always related the importance of the biblical issue being discussed to the great gospel purpose of Scripture.
