6,000 years ago, Genesis 1–3
According to the Bible, people weren’t always as sinful as they were during Noah’s time (and during our time today). In the very beginning, God created the universe, including a beautiful world. In six days, God filled His creation with an amazing variety of plants and animals. And He created the very first two people, Adam and Eve, in His own image. Everything was good and perfect. God’s creation was filled with life, joy, peace, and love, just as God the Creator is.
God freely gave Adam and Eve the entire creation to enjoy but told them not to eat from one tree. Sadly, Adam and Eve disobeyed God’s command and ate from that tree. Disobedience to God’s commands is called sin. And from that time on, all people have been born with a desire to sin.
