Did you know that your tongue has the power to speak death words and life words (Proverbs 18:21)? Death words are unkind and hurtful. Life words build up and encourage. Because God is the giver of life, He wants us to speak life words to others (Proverbs 12:18).
Every single person is fearfully and wonderfully made in God’s own image (Psalm 139). God has created each person to bring Him glory (Isaiah 43:7). Even if a person seems different from you, he bears the image of the same Creator, and we need to love him, as we love the Creator of us all. In fact, because we are made in the image of God, when we are mean to someone or call someone names (this is called being a bully), it’s as if we’re being mean to God and calling Him names (Proverbs 14:31, 17:5; James 3:9).
We need to have wise tongues that speak with kindness to others and we need to be champions for those who can’t stand up for themselves (Proverbs 31:8).
Before you speak, ask yourself: Is what I’m saying kind?
This colorful illustrated booklet gives kids (and parents!) a quick refresher of the fun apologetics learned during VBS.
