Biblical illiteracy is an epidemic. A recent survey in the United States found that 44% of Americans believe Jesus sinned while on earth, and 52% believe the Holy Spirit is just a symbol. Of those who hold to a supposed “biblical view of God,” a mere 34% believe he’s actively involved in their lives. It’s sad to see generations who don’t hold to solid doctrine and theology.
What can we do about it? We can work to promote biblical literacy!
What can we do about it? We can work to promote biblical literacy! One way is with Answers Bible Curriculum. This Sunday school curriculum goes through the whole Bible chronologically. This brings the Bible to life, helping it “click together” and make sense. Students will see the order in which the events took place, which will ground the biblical people and events into history, not leaving them as a nebulous “this happened sometime way back then.” It is also filled with apologetics (faith-defense teaching) and emphasizes biblical authority. Throughout the curriculum, students are learning theology and doctrine—deep truths from God’s Word (this is done while remaining non-denominational). There’s nothing else like it!
But ABC isn’t only for Sunday school classrooms. It’s adaptable for a Christian school or homeschool setting. It’s a wonderful resource for a meaty Bible curriculum. Today we will look at how to adapt ABC to work in your school classroom.
There are approximately 180 days in a school year. It’s designed for a church to do one lesson a week over four years. But, if you skip the included ABC review lessons and do one lesson each day, you can finish the entire curriculum in just one school year. This method is very content driven, leaving little time for activities, games, and crafts. This makes it best for high school or middle school.
Or you can take several years to go through the curriculum by covering one lesson over several days or by just doing ABC two or three days a week. This gives ample time for games, activities, and crafts that help to flesh out the lesson and make concepts stick. This also allows time for review and testing. This is ideal for younger grades.
However you chose to adapt ABC to suit your needs, we’re confident you and your students will love the depth of teaching from God’s Word.
One unique aspect of ABC is that it is synchronized across age groups. So when a student finishes up a year and moves into the next grade, they can easily pick up right where they left off. Or, over the course of their years in school, they can go through the curriculum several times, at greater depth each year.
However you chose to adapt ABC to suit your needs, we’re confident you and your students will love the depth of teaching from God’s Word. There’s nothing better to study!
