“We are already using ABC 1st Edition. How and when should we transition to ABC 2nd Edition?”
Now that the second edition of Answers Bible Curriculum has been released, many people are asking if it is appropriate for them to switch from the first edition (ABC1) to the second (ABC2), and when they should make the transition. The answer to that question depends on where you are in the lessons.
We intend for churches to start using ABC2 no earlier than July 2, 2017, beginning with Unit 1. The first two units of ABC2 roughly correspond to the first two quarters of ABC1. (The lessons are now structured in 10-lesson units rather than 13-lesson quarters.)
There are several places where a transition from ABC1 to ABC2 will work.
If you are beyond Year 1 Quarter 2 by September 2017, it will not work to make the transition to ABC2 since you would be ahead of our production schedule. We would recommend that you continue using the first edition until you have completed the lessons, then move to ABC2 and begin the new four-year cycle. We will continue to support ABC1 through 2019, at which time everyone will have transitioned to ABC2.
Alternatively, you could choose to take a break from Answers Bible Curriculum and teach something else until our production has caught up to where you currently are. We can recommend a variety of AiG curricula options depending on the age range of your students, including the following:
Please contact our customer service department via email or by phone at (800) 778-3390 to discuss your transition options.
