Thank you for considering a gift in your will to Answers in Genesis Ltd. (Australia).
Your legacy will:
After you have provided for loved ones, even a small percentage of your estate can make an eternal difference.
We strongly recommend you obtain independent legal and financial advice before finalising or changing your will.
Including these details avoids any confusion about your intended beneficiary.
Choose the clause that best suits your circumstances and insert the % / amount / item as directed. Replace the brackets with your details.
1. Residuary (recommended – keeps pace with inflation)
“I give [all / ___ %] of the residue of my estate to Answers in Genesis Ltd. (ABN: 94639327156) for its general charitable purposes. A receipt signed by an authorised officer shall be a full discharge to my executors.”
2. Percentage of the whole estate
“I give [___ %] of my entire estate to Answers in Genesis Ltd. (ABN: 94639327156) for its general charitable purposes. A receipt signed by an authorised officer shall be a full discharge to my executors.”
3. Pecuniary or specific-sum gift
“I give the sum of AUD [$___] to Answers in Genesis Ltd. (ABN: 94639327156) for its general charitable purposes. A receipt signed by an authorised officer shall be a full discharge to my executors.”
4. Specific asset (e.g., property, shares)
“I give [description of asset] to Answers in Genesis Ltd. (ABN: 94639327156) for its general charitable purposes. A receipt signed by an authorised officer shall be a full discharge to my executors.”
If you would like your legacy to support a particular aspect of AiG’s work, ask your solicitor to add:
“It is my preference (without creating a binding trust) that this gift be applied, where possible, to [state purpose]. Should that purpose no longer be practicable, the directors may apply the gift to the closest similar purpose.”
Q: Will my estate get a tax deduction?
A: No Australian inheritance tax currently applies. However, your estate may benefit from capital-gains tax exemptions when property passes to a registered charity – your solicitor can advise.
Q: Can I update an existing will?
A: Yes. Your solicitor can add a codicil or prepare a new will.
Q: What if I change my mind?
A: You remain free to alter or revoke your will at any time while you have capacity.
Q: Should I tell AiG?
A: That’s up to you. Letting us know allows us to thank you and plan ministry wisely, but it is not obligatory.
Please contact Answers in Genesis on 1300 111 AiG or complianceau@answersingenesis.org for a confidential, obligation-free conversation.
Thank you for praying about how your legacy can help proclaim the authority of God’s Word well into the future.
