Beauty serves many purposes, not just delighting the eye of the beholder. In the case of the golden poison dart frog, it is a warning of danger. Even to the touch, the toxin on its skin is deadly to predators. In the bloodstream a drop of poison, equal to two grains of table salt, can kill a person. But were these creatures always deadly?
Golden Dart Frog—To protect them after the Fall, poison dart frogs acquired a potent poison. Their golden robe serves as a warning. Don’t touch! “O Lord, how manifold are Your works! In wisdom You have made them all” (Psalm 104:24). (Photo by Deb Minnard.)
Spring Has Sprung—Few things compare to the beauty of a flower. They decorate fields and forests as well as our gardens and countertops. The Creator provides for these beauties as certainly as He provides for His children (Matthew 6:28–30). (photo by Steven Recktenwald)
Peace in the Valley—Our Savior Jesus was compared to a sheep (Isaiah 53:7), but He provided something infinitely greater—eternal life through His blood. Every time we see a sheep, we would do well to remember how God provided for our needs in this life and in the life to come. (photo by Peter Velez)
