Christmas Starts This Friday at the Ark and Creation Museum

Free Family Events for Christmas at America’s Favorite Faith-Based Destinations

on November 23, 2021

On select dates starting this Friday, November 26, and continuing through December 30, Answers in Genesis will once again host its free spectacular annual Christmas programs at the Ark Encounter and Creation Museum in northern Kentucky.

ChristmasTown at the Creation Museum and ChristmasTime at the Ark Encounter will display tens of thousands of dazzling lights. Along with some new activities, the museum will once again feature a live nativity. A brief video of the beautifully decorated museum grounds is here:

The Ark’s Answers Center will provide a warm place for guests to enjoy the stunning Encounter the Wonder animated show on a massive 70-foot LED screen, special concerts and programs, along with Christmas carol sing-a-longs and live animal encounters — all free.

As explained on the Ark and museum websites, most of the holiday activities are free.

From November 26—December 19 at both locations, the Christmas events will run Wednesdays through Sundays, starting at 5 p.m. Then from December 20—30, the events will be held each evening beginning at 5 p.m. (closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day).

Ken Ham: “Our guests love walking the grounds of both attractions as they view the thousands of stunning lights.”

Ken Ham, CEO and founder of the attractions, declared: “Our guests love walking the grounds of both attractions as they view the thousands of stunning lights. At the Ark, visitors can watch the spectacular and constantly changing colorful lights that will illuminate the life-size 510-foot-long Ark as well as enjoy the warmth of the Answers Center for Christmas music and other programs. At the museum, guests will experience our traditional live nativity and brightly colored lights.”

ChristmasTime at the Ark Encounter

Two years ago, the Ark Encounter was voted by readers of USA Today as the number one faith-based attraction in America. The free ChristmasTime family friendly event features the following:

  • A vast sea of bright, multi-colored lights on the Ark’s expansive grounds. The immense Ark itself will change into several rainbow colors.
  • At 7:15 p.m. inside the large Answers Center, the Ark’s talented musicians, Grammy-nominated Southern Salvation, will perform, plus the audience will sing along to favorite Christmas carols. The striking animated video Encounter the Wonder is a Christmas program that will be shown on the center’s huge 70-foot-long LED screen.
  • New this year: Twelve Stones Christian Academy will perform A Pondering Heart, a Christmas show, on December 3; the K-10 school is an outreach of AiG. Plus there will be a musical drama from God’s Bible School of Cincinnati on December 11 at 6:30 p.m.
  • Live-animal encounters, with animals from the Ark’s zoo, will be in the Answers Center. At the zoo, guests will encounter kangaroos up close. Camel rides are also offered (ticketed).
  • Shopping is available in the evening inside the Ark’s gift store, with many fair-trade items.
  • Parking is $10.

ChristmasTown at the Creation Museum (exit 11 off I-275, Petersburg, Ky.)

Continuing a 14-year tradition, ChristmasTown at the Creation Museum invites families to enjoy free activities. Parking is only $10. USA Today readers picked the museum as the nation’s number two faith-based attraction in America in 2019.

ChristmasTown at the Creation Museum

Often called the region’s “best garden of Christmas lights,” the grounds will include a large “high-tech” Christmas tree (new this year), bridges, waterfalls, a boardwalk, lighted dinosaur models, and more, which lead to the Eden Zoo with live animals for families to see.

Also at the Creation Museum for ChristmasTown:

  • Free 4D Christmas program Encounter the Wonder inside the museum’s SFX theater
  • Glice® (synthetic ice) rink that offers outdoor skating (for a skate rental fee)
  • The Christmas Star 4K planetarium show (ticket purchase required)
  • Opportunity to purchase a special Christmas dinner and gifts inside the museum gift store

The exhibits inside the Ark and Creation Museum will close at the regular time of 6 p.m. and the restaurants at 7 p.m.— everything else remains open until 8:30 p.m.

Ham stated: “ChristmasTime and ChristmasTown are our gifts to the community during this special time of year. Not only will visitors have a wonderful time together, but their hearts and thoughts will be directed toward Jesus and the special gift he gives to us because of his birth, death and resurrection. Invite your friends to visit our world-renowned attractions.”
