You Have a Big Family

Your family is big—really big. Don’t think “family-get-together-for-the-holidays” big. Think “all-over-the-whole-wide-world” big. In fact, you’re related to every single person on this planet. How many people is that?

7.6 billion—and climbing every second. If you took only one second to say hello to each of them, that comes out to 126 million minutes . . . which is 2.1 million hours . . . which is about 241 years. That’s a lot of hellos.

But wait a second. Aren’t we all pretty different? Some of us have light skin, and some have dark. Some of us have straight hair, and some have curly hair. Different eyes, different body types . . . different everything. How could we all be one big 7.6-billion-member family and be so different?
