In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
(Genesis 1:1)
The earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness, the world and those who dwell therein.
(Psalm 24:1)
Who decides what’s right and what’s wrong? Some people say that each person gets to decide what is right or wrong. But this doesn’t work. What if someone decides that stealing from other people is the right thing to do? Will everyone else just say, “Sure, if stealing is right for you then you can take my TV and my candy”? Of course not! Some people say a society (or a country, like America) gets to decide what’s right and wrong. This doesn’t work either. Some societies have decided that killing people who are different from them is the right thing to do. Is everyone else just supposed to say, “Well, if killing us is right for you, go ahead”? Of course not! So who does get to make the rules? Our Bible verses tell us that God is the Creator of everything and that, because He made it, everything on the earth belongs to Him. This means that God has the authority to set the rules and say what is right and what is wrong. Without God, no one can really say something is right or wrong, but there is a God and He has clearly told us what is right and wrong in the Bible.
