What Is Wisdom?

How can we tell the difference between the path of wisdom and the path of foolishness? God is the source of all wisdom (Proverbs 9:10; Colossians 2:2–3). According to God, wisdom is hearing and doing what He says (Deuteronomy 4:5–6). Wisdom is knowing the difference between what is right and what is wrong according to God.

God has said that He’ll happily give wisdom to those who ask for it (James 1:5). So we can choose the path of wisdom by spending time reading and studying the Bible every day. Wise people also commit God’s Word to memory so they are able to know the wise thing to do and say in any situation. And one of the blessings of hearing and obeying God’s commands is that wise people are happy (Proverbs 3:13)!
