Thou Shalt Hate Thy Neighbor?

In her new book A Rhythm of Prayer: A Collection of Meditations for Renewal, Dr. Chanequa Walker-Barnes calls on God to help her “hate white people.” The book was No. 1 on Amazon’s Christian Meditation Worship & Devotion section and is a New York Times bestseller.

God’s Word teaches that we are all one race—the human race, descended from Adam and Eve. It also tells us that people are created in the image of God, regardless of gender or skin shade. We are called to love our neighbor as ourselves—the second greatest commandment.

While the sin of racism is evil and devastates many still today, the biblical response is to love our enemies and pray for them, to help the needy, and to stand up for victims of racism in Christ’s love.
