Hey there, Creation Explorers!
It’s time for another big announcement!
In early March, we welcomed a new baby into our family, a little girl: Veronica Aster Lorraine Schu. So the boys are outnumbered now—we’ve got two boys and three girls.
Winston, Felicity, Lois, and Gilbert all love having a new baby around and have been such a big help.
Just a few weeks ago, I (Avery) debuted a new kids program at the Creation Museum, called Fearfully and Wonderfully Me. This is such a fun program to teach, especially after just having had a baby, because it’s all about how God knits together each little life in his or her mother’s womb.
I share with kids that a baby’s life begins when he or she is so teeny tiny—about the size of a dot on a piece of paper (a dot like this: . ). Everything that makes you you is there right at the beginning of your life, at what we call “fertilization.” Then baby begins to grow. I show kids the baby growing to the size of a sesame seed (baby has a tiny beating heart at that point!), then a little Lego piece (baby has a sense of touch and can already move around), then a golf ball (baby has fingerprints), then a small Nerf football (baby can suck his or her thumb), then a lunchbox (baby can hear and recognize mom’s voice), and finally a soccer ball (baby is ready to be born).
The process God uses to make life is amazing. That’s why David said in Psalm 139:14, “I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.”
Every life is a blessing from God, and we’re so thankful for Veronica. We can’t wait to get out on some more adventures with all five of our Creation Explorers. Until then, remember what the Bible says about you—that you are a blessing to your parents and family.
“Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward” (Psalm 127:3).
