Give Me Some Sugar

Explore Creation

on July 1, 2023

Sometimes a sweet treat really hits the spot! And while you shouldn’t eat too much sugar, small amounts can be a sweet way to savor foods God has made for us to enjoy.

Sugar comes from plants. All green plants use sunlight to make their food. Through a process called photosynthesis, plants make sucrose, a natural sugar. Sucrose is extracted (taken out) from plants such as sugar cane and sugar beets. Then it’s processed into white sugar.

A little sugar is actually necessary for good health. Fruits, vegetables, dairy products, and some grains contain natural sugar. But not all sugar is equal! You can’t swap your carrots for candy. Make sure to eat your vegetables and save the sweets for special occasions.
