Year after year, God’s people offered sacrifices because of their sins.
The priests took a lamb without any spots or marks to offer for each family (Numbers 28:16-25)
The death of this spotless lamb pointed toward the True Lamb who would give His life in our place once and for all time (Hebrews 7:27) . . .
“There is born
to you this day
in the city of
David a Savior,
who is Christ
the Lord
”
(Luke 2:11).
Jesus, the sinless Son of God, told the people about God’s great rescue plan. He did the works His Father gave Him to do. He healed, He brought the dead back to life, and He told us to turn away from sin and follow Him.
When the prophet John
baptized Jesus, God
the Father spoke from
heaven to approve
Jesus’ mission:
“You are My beloved
Son; in You I am well
pleased
” (Luke 3:22).
“ . . . the blind see, the
lame walk, the lepers are
cleansed, the deaf hear,
the dead are raised, the
poor have the gospel
preached to them
”
(Luke 7:22).
“He who hears My word
and believes in Him who
sent Me has everlasting
life, and shall not come
into judgment, but has
passed from death into
life
” (John 5:24).
. . . Some of the Jews and their leaders had Jesus put to death on the Cross (Matthew 27:20-25) . . .
. . . But that was all a part of God’s rescue plan. The sinless Lamb died for sinners (1 Peter 1:18-20)
When Jesus died, some followers put His body in a tomb and rolled a stone to block the entrance (Matthew 27:59-60). All remained silent until the third day . . .
. . . an angel appeared in blazing light and rolled the stone away. The earth shook violently. Soldiers who guarded the tomb fainted from fear (Matthew 28:2-4).
Most amazing of all? The tomb now held only grave cloths (John 20:1-8).
The now-alive-again Jesus spent 40 days teaching His followers before going back to the Father. He told them to go make followers of Him all over the world (Acts 1:3-8).
And that’s exactly what they did. They preached the good news of the rescue to everyone, everywhere (Acts 5:42; 8:4).
Jesus wants YOU to share the good news, too. Your friends and family need to hear it.
The end . . . ? Not yet. God’s plan is for everyone who receives Jesus as Savior to spend forever with Him in a new heavens and a new earth—a place with no more death or sin. Read about it in Revelation 21 and 22!
