Verses to Read: Genesis 1:26–28
Some people believe that humans and apes share a common ancestor. They say ancient humans were more closely related to apes and weren’t very smart. They call them cavemen because they supposedly lived in caves. But the Bible teaches that God created humans in his image—separate from the animals. We’ve always been intelligent, starting with the first people, Adam and Eve.
People throughout history have lived in caves, especially after humans spread throughout the world after the tower of Babel. But ancient humans did more than just live in caves. The early chapters of Genesis tell us about humans who were gardeners, musicians, builders, and metal workers.
Archaeologists have discovered tools, cave paintings, and other things made by early humans. Obviously, our ancestors were intelligent, just like the Bible says.
