So God created man in his own image; in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.” (Genesis 1:27)
Evolution teaches that people evolved from an “ape-like ancestor.” Evolutionists believe that people aren’t really special, but are just smarter animals than a horse, an elephant, or a monkey. Take a look at our Bible verse. Does evolution match what the Bible says about people? No!
The Bible teaches that people are made in God’s image. Animals were not made in God’s image; only people were! Not only are we made in God’s image, but we were created separately from the animals, which God simply spoke into life. Genesis 2:7 records God specially forming Adam from dust, and a few verses later, in verses 21–22, God specially makes Eve from one of Adam’s ribs. People were made in a special way!
Also, animals can’t think or talk (some animals can copy speech and communicate in a basic way, but they don’t really talk like people), have complex emotions like disgust or regret, or display creativity by playing music or painting a beautiful, meaningful picture. Only humans can pray to God or know God, and only humans are called to become children of God (John 1:12). Humans are not animals. Each person is specially created in God’s image!
