The human body has more than just antibodies and white blood cells to fight infections. Now researchers have identified certain human cells that dispense a soap-like protein called APOL3 to dissolve chunks of the inner membranes of invasive bacteria. But what’s most startling is that APOL3 attacks only invasive bacteria, leaving human membranes intact. While it attacks the lipids in the bacteria, cholesterol in the host’s body blocks the attack from harming anything but the intruding bacteria.
While the researchers credit evolution for finding “such an elegant way to control this powerful tool,” biblical creationists know that only an all-wise, powerful, and loving Creator could so intelligently and generously imbue his creation with such sophisticated systems.
