New Remedies for Our Maladies?

There’s a lot we still don’t know about the human brain, but ever-increasing studies are helping scientists home in on curing our ailments. For example, researchers have assembled the most detailed map of the brain ever created. Scientists hope it will lead to new discoveries into neurological conditions such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease.

In other groundbreaking brain research, scientists have discovered certain neurons in mice that dictate motion sickness. If the same pathways in humans lead to the sick feeling, researchers believe a certain drug could prevent motion sickness.

Another group of scientists recently identified 44 gene variants associated with migraines, a discovery that could lead to relief for the nearly 20% of adults worldwide who suffer from migraines.
