Breastplate of Righteousness

A soldier’s breastplate covered him from his neck to his thighs—both front and back. It protected all his important organs, such as his heart, lungs, stomach, and intestines, from attack by the enemy.

We can be protected from the attacks of our Enemy when we put on the breastplate of righteousness. Righteousness means doing right in God’s sight. When we obey God’s commands in the Bible, we are acting righteously (Psalm 119:172; 1 Corinthians 15:34). But unless we are part of God’s kingdom and have faith in Jesus Christ, we cannot produce the fruits of righteousness of the Holy Spirit, who lives and works in each believer.

Once we know the truth (by studying God’s Word), we need ask the Lord every day to help us to obey the truth and live righteously.
