Jesus rode into Jerusalem as the long-promised king. He fulfilled all the prophecies that God had given his people long ago. But many people did not realize what was happening.
Why did some people miss the meaning of this event?

When Jesus came to the Temple, he was furious with what he saw. Instead of finding God’s house focused on prayer, he discovered many people who were only there to make money.

Jesus knew what was about to happen to him. He knew he came to earth to die for us. He wasn’t surprised by Judas betraying him because that was God’s plan. Jesus chose to die on the cross to show God’s love for the world.

Before Jesus was betrayed, he had one last meal with his disciples. But this was a special meal. He told them why he had to die for them and how his followers could remember what was about to happen.

After Jesus died, his body was placed in a tomb. For most people—even Jesus’ followers—it seemed like the end. The one who claimed to be the Messiah was gone.

On Sunday morning, the women found the tomb empty. Jesus had risen to life again. Because he conquered death and is alive, we can have eternal life in heaven with him. That’s a promise worth celebrating every day.
