According to the first two chapters in the book of Genesis, God created a perfect world. There was no death, suffering, sorrow, sickness, pain, or sin of any kind. Adam and Eve could walk with God, and they had nothing to fear. It was much like heaven will be.
But Adam and Eve’s sin corrupted the original earth. Now we live in a world where pain, suffering, and death exist. Because sin exists here, temptation also exists. We are tempted to sin against God and his Word, and we’re even tempted to reject salvation through Jesus.
Heaven is a wonderful place God promises for us. But only those who trust in Jesus Christ will be saved and go to heaven to worship and enjoy him forever (Romans 3:23–24).
Why did God allow temptation in the first place? God made us to glorify him. He loves us, and he wants us to love him back. Adam and Eve were the first man and woman. When they chose to rebel against God and sin in the garden of Eden, their sin spread to all of us. But God sent his only Son, Jesus, to save us from the penalty of our sin. Those who repent of their sin and receive Jesus Christ will spend eternity with their Creator in heaven. “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23).
Buddy Davis here. If you’re still wondering if you can fly in heaven, just remember that God has many fantastic things in store. But the best part will be worshipping and enjoying our Savior!
Even though the Bible doesn’t tell us a lot about heaven, we can learn several important, fun facts about it from the pages of God’s Word.
