Take a moment to make a list of exciting events in the Bible.
Maybe you mentioned a giant-slaying shepherd or ships surviving raging waters or small armies winning incredible victories. Maybe you listed devastating plagues or powerful miracles or Jesus rising from the dead to life.
The Bible is packed with exciting events, but these are more than just stories. God gave us the true history of the universe, and we can trust it!
The Bible is filled with some incredible moments and powerful narratives. Really, it’s fun to read about all that God does from Genesis to Revelation.
But there’s one key thing to remember as you read. People sometimes refer to the events in Scripture as “Bible stories,” but that can give the wrong idea. You see, we often think of “stories” as fiction—like make-believe movies or madeup novels or fairytales. And while those are fun to watch and read, the Bible is something completely different.
It’s true history. Adam and Eve really existed.
Sin truly led to the fall and caused disease and death to start. The flood of Noah’s day actually happened all around the globe. All those animals—like the camel kind—really got off the ark and had babies and filled the world. And, most importantly, Jesus was truly born, lived a perfect life, died in our place to take the punishment for our sin on the cross, and rose again.
God gave us his Word (2 Timothy 3:16). We can trust the Bible because it’s from God—which makes it different from any other book on earth.
Buddy Davis here. I love reading the Bible, and what’s truly amazing is we can trust the Bible because it’s from God.
If the idea of getting stuck in the desert makes you a bit nervous, take a camel.
