Teaching Tie-In

Show the sample craft and say:

If I said to you, “God is,” what word would you use to finish the sentence? Take responses, and give them helps if needed, such as God is love, God is kind, God is good, God is perfect, God is patient, God is truth. There are so many verses and Bible accounts about the love and kindness of God! We see Jesus showing kindness to people over and over. In fact, in the ultimate act of love, God sent his own Son, Jesus, to die in our place and rise from the dead!

Well, if God is so loving and kind, how do you think God’s children ought to act? Take responses. Yes, we’re made in God’s image, so if God is loving and kind, God’s children should reflect him by being loving and kind. We need his help to do that. Can you think of a way you can show kindness to someone? Take responses. Our craft today is so cool because it has lots of ideas of ways to show kindness to others. You can pull one out every day or so and do what it says! Ask God to give you his kindness to share with others.

Class Time Directions

  1. To make a Kindness Cards display board, apply craft glue to the piece of poster board, edge-to-edge, then carefully press the craft sticks onto it. The sticks need to line up with each other and cover the poster board completely.
  2. Flip the display board over, then take the “V-shaped” paper clip and center it along the bottom edge with the smaller side of the clip against the poster board. Then tape it to the poster board with a piece of duct tape.
  3. Cut out the Kindness Cards Pocket and fold at each dashed line, then tape the side flaps to the back flap. Glue stick the pocket to the back of the display board over top of the paper clip.
  4. Stretch the rubber band around the display board between the top two craft sticks. Then choose one Kindness Card and clip it to the rubber band with the two mini clothespins.
  5. Place the remaining Kindness Cards in the pocket on the back of the display board.

Tip Corner

  • For the Primary kids, and to save time, assemble the Kindness Cards Pockets before class time.
  • Ask the kids to look through the cards and see if there is one they have done that they can share about.
  • If you have time at the end, it’s always nice to review the week’s crafts, experiments, teachings, and Scriptures.
