Materials
- Clear glass gems, 3 per child
- White copy paper, 1 sheet for every 8 children
- Self-adhesive button magnets, 3 per child
Tools and Basic Supplies
- Office paper cutter
- Pencils
- Scissors
- Mod Podge®
- Paintbrushes
- Permanent markers (in a variety of colors)
Pre-Prep
- Use a paper cutter to cut copy paper into eighths (2.75-x-
4-in. pieces), 1 per child.
Class Time Directions
- Place a glass gem on the piece of white paper and
trace it with a pencil. Then cut out the circle. Repeat
with the other 2 gems. Because gems are often irregular
sizes, be sure to keep each paper circle with its
corresponding gem.
- Use permanent markers to write a 3-word phrase
about God (one word per paper circle), like “GOD IS
LOVE,” or “GOD IS PERFECT,” or “GOD IS GOOD,”
or “GOD KNOWS EVERYTHING,” or “GOD NEVER
CHANGES.”
- Then decorate your circles, as desired, using other
permanent markers.
- Use a paintbrush to apply Mod Podge® directly onto
the front of your circles. Then press them onto the
underside of the glass gems. You may need to add a
little Mod Podge® to the edges of the paper circles.
- Finally, stick the adhesive magnet to the back of the
glass gem, and set aside to dry.
