Welcome to Ark Encounter

The Ark’s one and only voyage took place over 4,300 years ago, yet this magnificent vessel still captures the imaginations of believers and unbelievers alike.

The biblical account of Noah’s Ark and the Flood is one of the most beloved and most ridiculed portions of Scripture. Believers marvel at God’s mercy and grace displayed toward Noah and his family in the midst of worldwide, cataclysmic judgment. Skeptics mock the ideas of a global Flood and a wooden Ark large enough to preserve every kind of air-breathing land animal.

The Ark’s one and only voyage took place over 4,300 years ago, yet this magnificent vessel still captures the imaginations of believers and unbelievers alike. Finding Noah’s Ark would easily rank as one of the greatest archaeological discoveries in history, a fact borne out by a CBS News survey a few years back. In that poll, 43 percent of respondents picked the Ark as the discovery they would like to see next—more than double the second-ranked choice.

Far more than a mere curiosity, the Ark is a reminder of God’s judgment upon a sinful world. It can also serve as a picture of salvation. The Lord graciously spared the lives of Noah and his family, who had to enter the door of the Ark. Similarly, God offers forgiveness of sins and eternal salvation to all who come to the Father through another door, Jesus Christ. He said, “I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved” (John 10:9).

While Noah’s Ark may never be found, Answers in Genesis, along with Ark Encounter, LLC, is planning to build a full-size wooden Ark in Williamstown, Kentucky—only 45 minutes south of Cincinnati on I-75. We want to use this incredible structure to proclaim biblical authority and the soul-saving gospel of Jesus Christ to the millions of guests projected to visit. At Ark Encounter, guests will learn that God’s Word can be trusted and the skeptical questions about the Ark and the Flood can be answered. Check out the Ark Encounter website for more details about why we are doing this.

In the weeks to come, we will be publishing articles that explain details about Noah, the Ark, the Flood, and other relevant subjects. Here are just a few of the many topics that will be addressed:

  • Which cubit did Noah use?
  • How long did it take to build the Ark?
  • How did Noah and his family care for all the animals?
  • Was the biblical Ark proportioned correctly?
  • Is the Ark on Mount Ararat?

Get on board with us as we build Ark Encounter, and be a part of this tremendous opportunity to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ, the true Ark of salvation.
