Dr. Tim Chaffey

Author and Content Manager for the Ark Encounter

Dr. Tim Chaffey is the content manager for the Attractions Division of Answers in Genesis. An apologist with a passion for training young people, he speaks regularly at the Creation Museum, camps, schools, and churches and has authored numerous books.

Since joining Answers in Genesis in 2010, Tim has written numerous articles for Answers magazine, the AiG website, and the Answers Research Journal. He is the author of more than two dozen fiction and nonfiction books. His nonfiction titles deal primarily with theology and apologetics, such as his work on Christ’s resurrection titled In Defense of Easter. Tim’s novels also emphasize teaching the biblical worldview and defending God’s Word. For example, The Truth Chronicles is an engaging time travel adventure with creation apologetics woven throughout, while The Remnant Trilogy is a historical fiction series that highlights the reality of Noah, the ark, and the flood.

Dr. Chaffey was raised in a Christian home in northeastern Wisconsin and cannot think of a time in his life when he did not believe the gospel. He made a public profession of his faith eight days before his eighth birthday. He later served as a pastor and youth pastor and taught high school Bible and science classes for six years. He has earned a BS in biblical studies and theology (2002), an MA in biblical and theological studies (2005), an MDiv with an emphasis in apologetics and theology (2008), and a ThM in church history and theology (2011). Most recently, he received his Doctor of Ministry in advanced biblical and theological studies from Shepherds Theological Seminary (2023).

Tim and his wife, Casey, have two adult children. In their spare time, the couple enjoys traveling and hiking in God’s creation and counts the redwoods, Yosemite, and Israel among their favorite places to explore. Tim played college basketball and now competes in endurance events, such as triathlons and half marathons. In 2006, he was diagnosed with acute promyelocytic leukemia and has been cancer-free since September of that year.
