Transcript

Many Christians claim it doesn’t matter what you believe about Genesis, because we can’t know the length of the days in Genesis anyway.

But if the days in Genesis were long periods, then there had to be death before sin because the fossil record is full of death. But Scripture is clear that death is the penalty for sin. If it existed before sin, it wasn’t much of a punishment when Adam and Eve sinned because they would have died anyway!

Jesus came and died to take our penalty upon Himself. Why did He die a physical death if it wasn’t the penalty for sin?

The gospel is founded on a literal Genesis. You can’t stretch the days into long ages without doing damage to the gospel.
