From the giant Newfoundland to my short-legged dachshund, dogs are a pleasing reminder of our Creator’s fantastic ingenuity.
My dachshund, Dudley, lives for a good chase, whether tracking a squirrel across the lawn or a ball across the room. From ears to tail, he is a masterpiece of breeding. His deep chest provides ample breath capacity for running after prey. His spade-like paws and two-inch legs are perfect for digging and crawling into holes to chase small rodents. His long body allows him to remain halfway outside a hole, and his floppy ears keep dirt out of his ear canals as he’s digging.
But no dachshund ever nose-poked Eve’s ankles or begged Adam for a bite of carrot in Eden. These little dogs were bred as hunters long after their wolf-like ancestors trotted off the ark. God designed the dog kind with great genetic diversity that allowed for the varied breeds we see today. From the giant Newfoundland to my short-legged dachshund, dogs are a pleasing reminder of our Creator’s fantastic ingenuity.
It’s always nice to have something as humble as the llama helping to guard the truth of God’s Word.
