SPECIAL WEBCAST: The Great Mammoth Mystery...SOLVED!

On March 12, 2000, the Discovery Channel on cable TV aired a fascinating--but scientifically questionable – documentary that declared that scientists had finally solved some of the riddles surrounding mammoths. (The cable-TV program--highly publicized nationwide – will be re-broadcast on the Discovery Channel on Wednesday evening, March 15, at 9 p.m. ET/PT; Saturday, March 18 at 8 pm; & March 19 at 6 pm.)

The program, "Raising the Mammoth," documented the recent uncovering of an essentially fully intact mammoth in the frozen tundra of Siberia. But the overall historical context into which this mammoth is placed does not fit with Biblical history or even good science.

As we report in the following article taken from the current edition of Creation magazine (including color photos of the Siberian mammoth as it was being uncovered), there was really only one Ice Age, not many ages. This Siberian mammoth, we contend, died at the end of the single Ice Age about 2,000 B.C., not 20,000 years ago (as unreliable carbon-dating tests claim). Also, mammoths did not first appear millions of years ago in evolutionary history, and they certainly did not have the capability to evolve wooly coats to cope with cold weather. These remarkably designed kinds of "elephants" were created 6,000-7,000 years ago on Day 6 of the creation week.

Lastly, and contrary to the program's implied possibility, this mammoth could never be cloned back into existence. The following article, Mammoths: Riddle of the Ice Age, from volume 22:2 of Creation Magazine explains why.
