Our Organization

Answers in Genesis is an apologetics (i.e., Christianity-defending) ministry dedicated to enabling Christians to defend their faith and to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ effectively. We focus particularly on providing answers to questions surrounding the book of Genesis, as it is a foundational book of Christianity and the most-attacked book of the Bible. We also desire to train others to develop a biblical worldview and seek to expose the bankruptcy of evolutionary ideas and their bedfellow: a “4.5 billion-year-old” earth (and an even older universe).

Ken Ham & Martyn Iles

Ken Ham is the Founder CEO of Answers in Genesis and its two popular attractions: the Creation Museum and the Ark Encounter. He cofounded the organization in 1994 to equip Christians to face the challenges of culture, restore the foundations of the church, and share the gospel confidently. His core message stresses the importance of biblical authority from the very first verse of Scripture.

Martyn Iles is an Australian-born lawyer, commentator, and preacher living in the US. He is Executive CEO of Answers in Genesis and produces two YouTube programs: Truth in 10, which serves as the Genesis blueprint, and Living in Babylon, which calls Christians to be a “Daniel” in their Babylon.

  • 1993

    Ken resigned from ICR. Mark Looy and Mike Zovath joined Ken, and the three founded a new organization that was initially called Creation Science Ministries (CSM) but later that year changed to “Answers in Genesis.”

  • 1995

    Then-AiG board member Carl Kerby designed and launched the AiG website.

  • 2006

    The AnswersInGenesis.org website received the prestigious “Best Ministry Website” award from the National Religious Broadcasters. Answers magazine first debuted in the summer.

  • 2007

    The ribbon-cutting ceremony for the grand opening of the Creation Museum was held, with the museum officially opening to the public on May 28.

  • 2014

    Seven million viewers watched a live stream debate between Bill Nye “the Science Guy” and AiG’s Ken Ham. One of the best-preserved allosaur skulls joined the dinosaur exhibits in the museum. Kentucky officials rejected AiG’s Ark Encounter application.

  • 2016

    The Ark Encounter, the largest timber-frame structure in the world, opened to the public. Bill Nye toured the Ark with Ken Ham, and their spirited 2014 debate resumed (sometimes called the “Second Nye/Ham debate”) as they walked with Nye’s film crew in tow.

  • 2017

    The Creation Museum opened the new 3 C’s exhibit (Christ, Cross, Consummation). AiG opened international offices in Mexico (to serve Latin America), Australia, and Canada. Replacing Darwin: The New Origin of Species by AiG’s Dr. Nathaniel Jeanson was released.

  • 2020

    The Ark and museum were closed (March 17–June 7). AiG launched a video-streaming platform, Answers TV. Truth Traveler, a virtual reality experience, opened at the Ark Encounter. Fearfully and Wonderfully Made opened at the Creation Museum.

  • 2021

    ABC Homeschool and Ken Ham’s book Divided Nation were released. AiG and Abraham Productions debuted the world’s largest Christian music event—40 Days and 40 Nights of Gospel Music at the Ark. AiG mourned the loss of Patrick Marsh and Dr. David Menton.

  • 2023

    Ken Ham released his new book Divine Dilemma. Australian Martyn Iles joined Answers in Genesis as Chief Ministry Officer. In November, Iles was promoted to Executive CEO, serving under Ken Ham (whom the board appointed as Founder CEO).
