What Does It Mean to “Throw Your Pearls Before Pigs”?

During his Sermon on the Mount, Jesus told his followers to use discernment when sharing truth and not “give dogs what is holy, and do not throw your pearls before pigs [swine], lest they trample them underfoot and turn to attack you” (Matthew 7:6 ESV). This means we are to share the gospel but, if and when it becomes obvious the gospel is not welcome and is just being trampled on, we’re to move on and find others who are ready to listen.

Some Christians use this as an excuse to avoid engaging with atheists—after all, they’ll just trample the pearl of the gospel, right? Well, sadly, many atheists will indeed just trample the gospel underfoot (like others from many other religions)—but there are others who are willing to listen! And we won’t know if someone is willing to listen until we start presenting the gospel, so we need to be prepared and willing to share the gospel with atheists. And that’s the focus of our upcoming Easter conference, Answering Atheists. This special event will take the place of our annual Mega Conference for 2019.

This unique conference is being held in the new Answers Center (a 2,500 seat multi-purpose center) at the Ark Encounter, April 17–21, 2019 in Williamstown, Kentucky (south of Cincinnati). You’ll be equipped to answer common atheist objections to the Christian faith with sessions from me, evangelist Ray Comfort, Living Waters’ Mark Spence and Emeal (E.Z.) Zwayne, astrophysicist Dr. Jason Lisle, and many other compelling presenters. The conference will conclude with a sunrise Easter service, April 21, conducted by Ray Comfort, on the Ark Encounter grounds. (The sunrise service is free and open to anyone who would like to attend.)

And, new this year (instead of a registration fee), we will feature a special multi-day pass option for families, couples, or individuals. These multi-day passes include unlimited admission for seven consecutive days to both the Ark Encounter and Creation Museum (45 minutes away from each other), unlimited parking, all conference sessions, and other special offers. This exciting new ticketing option is a great way to explore everything both attractions have to offer during this unique conference.

I recently chatted with Ray Comfort during a Facebook chat and Live video with him in California (in which E.Z. Zwayne makes a surprise appearance). We shared about the atheist conference, talked about Ray’s nickname “Banana Man,” and his New Zealand background, and shared some Aussie/Kiwi “insults” to demonstrate our friendship with one another. (“Insults,” done in fun, are how Aussies show they like someone, including Kiwis like Ray! )

See you in April at the Ark Encounter!

Thanks for stopping by and thanks for praying,
Ken
