Jesus: The Hope We All Need

Today marks 17 years since the tragedy of 9/11, the date the twin towers in New York City were destroyed in an act of shocking terrorism against the United States. Along with a hijacked plane that hit the Pentagon building in Washington, DC and the crash of a fourth hijacked plane in Pennsylvania, thousands of people lost their lives on September 11, 2001—leaving behind broken homes and hurting people. The answer for those hurting people back then is the same as for others, such as those affected by the mass shooting last week in nearby Cincinnati, who are hurting and seeking answers today—Jesus Christ.

The good news of Christ’s death and resurrection is the hope we all need. The reason there’s death and suffering in this world is that we sinned against God. It’s not God’s fault the world is the way it is—it’s our fault. God created a perfect world (Genesis 1:31), but Adam’s sin and our continuing sin brought death into creation (Romans 5:12). But Jesus came and died in our place (Romans 6:23). He took the penalty of death that we deserve because of our sin. Now those who have trusted in Christ can confidently say,

“Death is swallowed up in victory.”
“O death, where is your victory?
O death, where is your sting?” (1 Corinthians 15:55)

Our true and living hope is in the person of Jesus Christ and his promise to someday “wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away” (Revelation 21:4). Have you received Christ? Do you know this hope for yourself?

If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. (Romans 10:9)

If you don’t know Christ, I encourage you to learn more about what he did for you on the gospel page of our website.

Thanks for stopping by and thanks for praying,
