I’m often asked, “When will the Ark Encounter attraction be finished?” My answer? “Never!” You see, we’ve got plans for expansions scheduled out for many years to come. Since we opened July 7, 2016, the Ark has been a beehive of activity with thousands of guests visiting each day, the construction and opening of new exhibits, the East and West villages, new food options, and more. And next up on our to-do list is an expansion of our popular Ararat Ridge Zoo.
Located behind the Ark is our family-friendly zoo and petting zoo, which feature red kangaroos, yaks, ostriches, emus, goats, donkeys, llamas, alpacas, camels, and more. This zoo—which includes camel and donkey rides—has been very popular with guests of all ages. Our zoo staff also feature different animals from the zoo each day on the second deck of the Ark (at the bow end) between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. And very soon we will begin building the new expansion that will double the zoo’s current size and add a wide variety of animals to our collection.
You can get a behind-the-scenes tour of what this new zoo expansion will feature in this Facebook Live video I did recently with Matt DeVoe of Ararat Ridge Zoo.
As you heard in the video, we’re getting peccaries, ring-tailed lemurs, a sloth, bearcats, mountain goats, and more for our zoo expansion, which opens next year. And we’re even constructing a walk-through kangaroo and emu habitat so you can get up close with these Australian critters from my homeland.
You won’t want to miss meeting the new animals in our zoo, so start planning your family vacation to the Ark Encounter soon. We are south of Cincinnati, Ohio, and right off I-75 (at exit 154) in Northern Kentucky.
Plan your visit at ArkEncounter.com.
Thanks for stopping by and thanks for praying,
