My parents passed on a legacy that has impacted me, my children, and now my grandchildren. It’s a legacy of loving the Lord, upholding the authority of His Word, and contending for the faith (Jude verse 3). I frequently encourage parents and grandparents to think about the legacy they want to leave.
That’s why I’m so excited to support a book by my good friend David Green, CEO and founder of Hobby Lobby (a US arts and craft chain of retail stores). Giving It All Away . . . And Getting It All Back Again: The Way of Living Generously is a fantastic testimony to legacy and generosity.
Giving It All Away is a brief, easy-to-read guide to living generously and giving to what matters most—things that have eternal impact. In his book, David states that only two things will last—the Word of God and human souls. He encourages his readers to invest in that which is eternal, not in earthly success or riches. He’s so right!
Though David Green is listed on the Forbes 100 list of the richest people in America, he and his family give 50% (you read that right—half!) of the company’s profits to Christian ministries that are spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ!
Giving It All Away provides a brief history of Hobby Lobby, including some of the details of their 2014 court case that went to the US Supreme Court and was decided in their favor. You’ll also learn about David’s background and how his parents instilled in him the importance of generosity and investing in God’s kingdom. Whether you make a few thousand dollars or millions of dollars, the book provides practical guidelines to help you live differently from the world by displaying radical generosity and passing on a legacy that will last much longer than money or even a successful company.
I encourage you to read David Green’s new book. It’s thought provoking, encouraging, and honoring to God’s Word and the gospel. Giving It All Away is coming to stores everywhere April 25, 2017. Preorder this powerful book at GivingItAllAwayBook.com.
Thanks for stopping by and thanks for praying,
