Bodie Hodge has a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. He conducted research for his master’s degree through a grant from Lockheed Martin and developed a New Method of Production of Submicron Titanium Diboride. The new process was able to make titanium diboride cheaper, faster, and with higher quality. This technology is essential for some nanotechnologies.
Bodie published two peer-reviewed articles (with his advisor) on the subjects:
During his years at SIUC, Bodie continued his personal study of biblical apologetics and began teaching this topic to a junior high Sunday school class. While at SIUC, he was the president of one of the few Christian student organizations, Christians Unlimited, and was also an officer in the student chapter of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
After earning his master’s degree, Bodie worked as a mechanical engineer for Grain Systems Incorporated, was a visiting instructor in mechanical engineering at SIUC, and worked as a test engineer through Aerotek Engineering for Caterpillar, Inc., in Peoria, Illinois, at the Peoria Proving Ground.
While working at Caterpillar, Bodie continued to teach apologetics to junior high and high school students. He did this until accepting a position with Answers in Genesis in 2003.
Bodie authored numerous articles and book chapters for Answers in Genesis and served as General Editor on the World Religions and Cults and Glass House books, among many others. Bodie also regularly appeared as a host on Answers News, our weekly news livestream.
Bodie’s wife, Renee, is Administrator for Answers Academy. Bodie and Renee were married in 2004 and have three daughters and one son.
Bodie is an avid genealogy fan who has traced his ancestry back to Adam and has written numerous articles (and a book) on the dispersion of people groups around the world after Babel.
In March of 2024, Bodie left Answers in Genesis to devote more time to his ministry, Biblical Authority Ministries, which he founded in 2020.
Although I grew up in a small town in western Illinois, the Lord has taken me on journeys around the world. I’ve been to Europe (Sweden, France (airport), Netherlands (airport), England, and Wales), South America (Peru), Australia, New Zealand (airport), and obviously North America (USA, Canada, and Mexico). So far, I’ve been to all but 12 states in the USA. I’ve been to Cozumel Island, the Caicos Islands, the Arizona desert, the Sonoma desert, floated down the Grand Canyon, seen the Northern Lights, snorkeled the Great Barrier Reef (largest reef in the world), the San Francisco reef (at Cozumel), and the Turks and Caicos Islands Barrier Reef. These last two are part of the Mesoamerican Reef in the Caribbean Basin, which combined is the third largest reef system in the world.
I enjoy baseball, basketball, and football. I also love running, throwing things, badminton, soccer, racquetball, shooting guns, hunting, fishing, golf (later in life), bowling, volleyball, music (singing, guitar, drums, bass, and keyboards), woodworking, bow shooting, and many other things. Naturally, I have a lot of interests and hobbies. This is a little taste of them. I’ve even run down and caught two deer in my life.
But perhaps my weirdest “claim to fame” is that I’ve had at least 60 occasions where I almost died. I’ve been electrocuted, almost drowned (twice), fallen off a roof, been in three house fires, survived numerous tornados, been attacked by dogs, been bitten by a poisonous spider, been in twelve accidents (bike, motorcycle, and car), been shot (by stray shotgun field shot), had a tree and a farm truck fall on me, and, oh yeah, had a widow-maker heart attack twice. But by the grace of God, he preserved my physical life through all those events. And, more importantly, through the blood of Jesus Christ, I was saved by faith through grace and received the free gift of salvation and eternal life!
Truly, the identity of Christ is of utmost importance. And yet, in today’s culture there are people teaching that Jesus was a created being.
Answers in Genesis is an apologetics ministry, dedicated to helping Christians defend their faith and proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ.
