Today, magnetic resonance imaging machines (MRIs) and similar technologies are saving lives in hospitals and clinics throughout the world. In 1969, this kind of technique was just an idea in the visionary mind of Dr. Raymond Damadian.

One Man's Journey of Invention and Faith

Secularists often claim that creationists cannot be “real scientists.” They also say that belief in God as Creator (as opposed to a belief in evolution) will hurt scientific advances and cause the USA to “fall behind” technologically. That was a major claim made by Bill Nye in his famous debate against Ken Ham, and must be exposed as untrue. Ken featured Dr. Damadian in a video clip during this 2014 debate.

This biography often reads like a novel and details the life and work of Dr. Raymond Damadian, a biblical creationist that invented the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)—technology that is saving millions of lives across the world! In this compelling read, the history and development of Damadian’s discovery and invention, and the trials that he endured focus the reader on his Christ-centered faith that God would use to lead him through his life’s journey. Damadian’s disappointments included not only the Thomas Edison-like trials in the science lab itself, but trials such as the Nobel Prize for his technology being awarded to someone else, even though Damadian originated the idea and led the building and use of the first MRI machine.

As a young boy, he watched his grandmother die painfully from breast cancer. Dr. Damadian would eventually decide on a career in medical research and pioneer this field. Although his concept of detecting tumors through magnetic resonance imaging was widely met with skepticism, he became the first researcher to do a full-body scan of a human being in 1977 in order to see if there was cancer present. His life has been an incredible journey of discovery.

This book will help you learn:

  • How his concept for cancer detection was inspired and developed
  • Why faith became an integral part of his work
  • Why he is a strong supporter of the creativity and freedom found in patents.

Gifted Mind is excellent for anyone to whom truth and justice are important. Yet even more compelling is Damadian’s biblically-based perspective on the awards that really count, the saving of lives on earth and the salvation of souls for eternity!
