The Schus Are Back in Kentucky!

by Avery Foley Schu on January 25, 2023

Hey there, Creation Explorer!

Just a few weeks ago, we updated you on what we’ve been up to (you can read that post here). We’re still working on all those exciting projects we told you about, but we have another big update on the Schu family—we’ve moved!

In midsummer 2021, we moved from Kentucky back to Ontario, Canada, while we waited for our American work visas to be renewed to allow me (Avery) to work and us to live in Kentucky. Well, after 18 months of waiting, my new work visa arrived (praise the Lord!), and earlier this month we moved back to Kentucky, where the Creation Museum and Ark Encounter are located. We’re so excited to be back!

Here we are, packed with all our stuff in our minivan!

We’re settling in now, but soon we’ll be back outside, exploring God’s creation and sharing our adventures with you. We can’t wait!

Soon after arriving, we were able to visit Ararat Ridge Zoo at the Ark Encounter to catch up with our zookeeper friend, Karina, and some of our favorite creature friends, such as the Ark’s kangaroo mob, snakes of various varieties, and CJ the camel. We also paused for a fun photo of the kids by the massive rainbow arch at the Ark.

  • Rainbow Arch

The rainbow arch reminds us of God’s promise—he will never again destroy the earth with a flood.

  • Gilbert meeting King Tut

Well, we’re off on another adventure (it’s probably unpacking another box right now!), but until next time, remember Hebrews 13:14, “Here we have no lasting city, but we seek the city that is to come.” No matter where we live—close to family in Canada, close to the Creation Museum and the Ark in Kentucky, or wherever else the Lord might call us someday—we know this world is not our home. We’re just passing through as we await the glorious day when we go to “the city that is to come,” where we, along with all those who have trusted in Christ, will spend eternity with Jesus.
