This year is one for the books for three reasons—and wait till you learn what the third one is!

1. We all know that America celebrates the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence this year, which was, in essence, the birth of the US.
2. It’s also a celebration year for AiG, as it’s the 10th anniversary of the opening of the Ark Encounter. We have some special events happening at the Ark on July 9, 10, and 11 to commemorate this special time (more on that later).
3. It’s also a celebration of what I call a miracle! Well, I consider it a miracle! Those of you who know my sweetheart wife, Mally, will understand why I said it’s a miracle when you hear that . . . she wrote a book! Mally wrote a book? Yes, she did!

Mally is very shy and always likes to stay behind the scenes. She doesn’t want to be the focus of attention. And she’s not a writer or a speaker. Yet she wrote a book—a powerful book. Let me tell you some of the background.

When we were visiting the facilities of Master Books (the publisher of all my books) in Arkansas last year, their top executive, Randy, approached Mally with an idea. He said he thought it would be fantastic if Mally could write a book about her life as a wife, mother, and grandmother, being married to Ken Ham, and how she coped and has always supported me in this ministry. He thought she would have some great advice for wives in ministry and for women in regard to family and marriage. After all, she had five children and now has eighteen grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren.

When I heard this, I thought, “There is no way he is going to get her to do this.” I can still see the horrified look on Mally’s face. She immediately dismissed it as impossible. When Randy asked her, he and some other staff from the publishing company had taken us to lunch at a quaint restaurant. As we were leaving, Mally saw one of the items for sale at the restaurant and commented on how much she liked it. It was a beautifully finished log seat with the words: “An old bear lives here with his honey.”

Neither of us thought any more about the seat or the book. Then sometime later, we were called by a shipping company who said they were delivering a seat. We were perplexed, “We didn’t order any seat.” After the truck delivered this very large package, we opened it and to our surprise found it was the seat Mally had made a passing comment about in Arkansas.

I then realized, “Oh, this is a bribe to get Mally to write this book they want!”

Mally said something like, “They can bribe all they want, but I can’t write a book.” She kept talking about them sending this seat and how she was not a writer, so how could she write a book?

So I started putting some pressure—gentle and persistent pressure—on her. After all, I knew it would take a miracle, really, to get her to do this. After a lot of persuading and conscripting our daughters to also coax her, we came up with an idea. Master Books would send a list of questions they would like her to answer in the book. Mally would sit with two of our daughters, and I would have one of our best writers, who has written many of my radio scripts and articles for me and has edited a number of my books, sit with her while she tells her life’s story.

As I read the manuscript and helped Mally add in things she wanted to say, I was amazed at how special this book is.

And so, while protesting right up until the day, she told her story to our writer, Avery. Avery recorded everything and wrote Home Fires, keeping Mally’s words. What a powerful book. It’s emotional and convicting. As I read the manuscript and helped Mally add in things she wanted to say, I was amazed at how special this book is. When Heidi St. John—podcaster, author, speaker, and a very special friend of ours—heard about the book, she offered to write the foreword! She knows Mally enough to know this book would be such a unique and important one. After she read the book, she sent the foreword. Here is just an excerpt from it:

And then he said, “I don’t know if Mally would be willing to do any publicity if it was alongside you. . . . I do think you and her together talking about the book would be a great interview.”

I thought, “Okay, I know what it took to get her to have this book written . . . to get her to do an interview? That would take more pressure than President Trump put on Iran!” So stay tuned for what happens regarding this request!

I wanted to let you read a very short excerpt from one of the 12 chapters of the book as it does pertain to our 10th Ark anniversary year:

“What’s your favorite exhibit at the Creation Museum and the Ark Encounter?” I’ve been asked this question over the years and my answer is, well, all of them! I remember standing beside Kenny when the museum—his dream since the 1980’s when he stood on a little piece of property in Queensland, Australia and prayed for a creation museum— finally opened in 2007 in Kentucky. Certainly, we could never have dreamed in the 1980’s how God would answer that prayer, but he did in his way and in his timing. When the Creation Museum opened, I had to pinch myself in a way as I thought, “this is actually happening! God enabled us to do this!” To this day, every time I go to the Creation Museum or the Ark Encounter, I think, “Wow. Look what God did.” I truly get amazed every time at how big our God is and how blessed I am to be a part of a major ministry impacting tens of millions of people each year.

When the Ark Encounter opened in 2016, I had the same thoughts as I had when the Creation Museum opened. It’s so hard to believe God would use Kenny and Mally Ham from Australia for such an important and impactful ministry. I am truly in awe of what God has done and feel so inadequate for what God has used us for.

It still amazes me to this day how God brought these two Christian themed attractions about and how he’s using them to impact families and individuals from around the world. So, I like all the exhibits because of their impact and how each exhibit impacts people differently. But I especially love The Ham Family Legacy Exhibit in the Legacy Hall lobby area at the Creation Museum.

This exhibit features Kenny’s Dad’s Bible, a little Noah’s ark his Dad made for him, and a bit of history regarding the Ham family. The teaching in the exhibit really challenges people to pass on a spiritual legacy to coming generations. Whenever I see it, I am reminded of the impact Kenny and his parents had on me spiritually, concerning understanding and standing on the authority of God’s Word. Kenny’s spiritual leadership has contributed greatly to my own spiritual growth. I have so loved his leadership in our marriage and family. And if you talk to our children and grandchildren, you will quickly discern how Kenny’s spiritual leadership has impacted them as they boldly and uncompromisingly stand on God’s Word.

I hope that thought challenges you to consider what kind of legacy you are leaving. The most important legacy is spiritual!

So this year, as we celebrate the 250th anniversary of the birth of the nation, we also celebrate the 10th anniversary of the opening of the leading Christian themed attraction in the world—the Ark Encounter. What exactly is a swear word, and why does it matter?

God cares about our speech—there are many verses in the Bible dedicated to our mouths and what comes out of them (which ultimately is a reflection of what comes out of our hearts). For example:

Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for building up what is needed, so that it will give grace to those who hear. (Ephesians 4:29)

Let your words always be with grace, seasoned with salt, so that you will know how you should answer each person. (Colossians 4:6)

And the tongue is a fire, the very world of unrighteousness; the tongue is set among our members as that which defiles the entire body, and sets on fire the course of our existence, and is set on fire by hell. (James 3:6)

It is not what enters into the mouth that defiles the man, but what proceeds out of the mouth, this defiles the man. (Matthew 15:11)

Let there be no filthiness nor foolish talk nor crude joking, which are out of place, but instead let there be thanksgiving. (Ephesians 5:4 ESV)

Over the years, I’ve heard atheists claim over and over that young-earth creationists are “science deniers” who believe in a flat earth. And I recently heard this kind of claim again—but this time it wasn’t from an atheist. The claim was from the well-known Christian theologian and apologist William Lane Craig, who denies a literal Genesis, instead believing in evolution and millions of years.

Yes, he really compared believing what the Bible clearly teaches about Genesis to believing in a flat earth (something the Bible doesn’t teach and that denies observational science). But William Lane Craig has a problem—he doesn’t really understand science! And he refuses to take God at his Word in Genesis.

I explain what I mean by this in my response to Willian Lane Craig’s claims in this video:

Yes, sadly, William Lane Craig has been impacted by the religion of naturalism (which is atheism), and he’s added that into the Bible. It’s compromise on the truth of Scripture, and this compromise has major problems (such as putting death and suffering before man’s sin—a direct contradiction of Scripture).

Instead of trusting the words of men who don’t know everything, weren’t there, and often make mistakes, we must start with the Word of the God who knows everything, who has always been there, and who has never made a mistake. William Lane Craig needs to do that!

What are your travel plans for this summer? For many Americans—especially with the 250th anniversary of America taking place this year—summer plans include a road trip and seeing some of America’s greatest sights. (How about the two leading Christian themed attractions in the world?) I recently shared my tips for visiting the Creation Museum and Ark Encounter on your road trip, and today I want to share my suggestions for touring an evolutionary natural history museum.

Obviously, a secular museum is probably going to present evolution and millions of years as fact and may have other scientifically or biblically problematic content. So how do you and your family tour these museums, enjoying the artifacts, displays, and more, without absorbing evolutionary ideas? Here are my six tips:

1. Learn the 7 C’s of History before you go. At the Creation Museum, we summarize the foundational history God has given us in his Word (Genesis 1–11, the foundation for everything) in the 7 C’s of History. It’s an easy way of remembering this foundational history and the gospel chronologically. When you have the framework of Creation, Corruption, Catastrophe, Confusion, Christ, Cross, and Consummation in your mind, it makes it easier to properly interpret museum exhibits. And it’s a great teaching tool for kids. You can walk up to an exhibit and ask, “Which C of History does this fit into?” and have some great discussions, teaching them to interpret everything through the lens of Scripture.

2. Discuss the importance of worldview and the two kinds of science. Science is not some kind of neutral endeavor (one is either for or against Christ) where the evidence speaks for itself. Everyone (including every scientist) has a worldview, and they use that worldview to interpret the evidence we have in the present. That’s why it’s important to understand the difference between observational science and historical science.

   Observational science is directly testable, observable, and repeatable (think technology and medical innovations).

   Historical science, though, deals with the past. We only have access to the present.

   The worldview you bring to the evidence in the present will determine your interpretation.

   Fossils, rock layers, etc. exist in the present, and we can’t directly test, observe, or repeat the past. We didn’t see how they were formed. So the worldview you bring to the evidence in the present will determine your interpretation.

   It’s not a battle of science vs. the Bible—it’s really this: Will we start with God’s Word or man’s word?

3. Always separate the fact from the interpretation. Museum cases often include the facts (e.g., the fossils), and then the signage and illustrations add the interpretation! Learn to separate what was actually found from the evolutionary interpretation applied to the evidence. For example, fossils rarely contain soft tissues so it’s difficult to reconstruct what that creature looked like when it was alive. Because evolutionists believe life evolved from primitive to complex, they often illustrate life in the lower rock layers as very primitive looking. Remember that the illustration is not what they found—what they found was a fossil (or bits of a fossil). The illustration is merely an evolutionary worldview applied to the evidence.

4. Understand the order in the fossil record. Some museums will present life as a progression from simple to complex through the fossil record. Understanding that the fossil record does not represent eons of time and different eras of life but, rather, different stages of the flood as the waters rose (first burying the deep ocean and later the continents) is important for properly interpreting the rough “order” to the fossil record.

   If you have kids, they can learn all about this in Schus Off!: The Movie, a one-hour special on geology and the flood featuring AiG’s Avery Foley Schu and her family, streaming exclusively on Answers TV. (Why not get an Answers TV subscription, and your kids can watch this movie and the other great, family-friendly, God-honoring programs while you drive?)

5. Remember to ask, “Were you there?” For decades, I’ve taught children that whenever they hear about evolution or millions of years, they should (politely) ask the question, “Were you there?” You see, no scientist was there in the beginning, no scientist knows everything, and scientists often make mistakes. Now, I wasn’t there either and neither were you, but we know the one who was there—and he is perfect, doesn’t make a mistake, knows everything, and has given us an eyewitness account of history in his Word. So even if a museum exhibit stumps you and you don’t know how to properly interpret it, remember God was there and we can trust his Word over the interpretations of man.

6. Give God the glory. As you tour museums and other attractions, you will see many examples of God’s handiwork and creativity. In the midst of correcting the evolutionary signage and offering a biblical worldview interpretation for your family, don’t forget to give God the glory for the wonderful things he’s made!

Oh, and here’s one more bonus tip: Visit the Creation Museum and Ark Encounter first! Our God-honoring, Bible-upholding attractions help you put on your “Bible glasses” so you can properly interpret the world around you. It’s a great way to help your kids know how to spot error. And I have family after family share with me how refreshing it is to visit attractions where they aren’t having to correct everything on the signage—they can just enjoy their time!

There are certain scientists and researchers who are considered subject-matter experts, knowing more about a specific topic than almost anyone else. But the evidence confirming an intelligence behind the universe is so obvious—overwhelming, really. One such world-renowned scientist recently passed away, dying an atheist as far as we know. How is this possible?

This scientist was Dr. Craig Venter, a genomics researcher. In other words, he was an expert in DNA, the most complex language and information system in the world. He was one of the researchers who first drafted the human genome. He was a brilliant man who knew an impressive amount about DNA. And yet, as far as we know, he utterly rejected the Creator, attributing the complexity of DNA to random, chance processes. And sometimes Christians wonder how that’s possible. How could an intelligent person who knows so much—and knows how much there is that we don’t know—not see the fingerprint of the Creator?

The Bible gives the answer.

Well, the Bible gives the answer. And I explain what that answer is in this video I recorded after we heard of Dr. Venter’s sad passing (it’s always sad when someone dies, but it’s tragic when someone who rebelled against God and refused his offer of salvation dies):

Over the years, I’ve found that many Christians are unaware of what’s really being taught at the Christian college they support. They assume because the school claims the name of Christ, teaches the Bible, and says in their marketing materials that they are faithful, that they truly are—but that’s not the case with many Christian colleges (especially many of the most well-known ones). So what’s really being taught?

I recently shared about a segment that ran on Fox & Friends about the Ark Encounter. The segment featured Fox personality Steve Doocy touring the Ark with AiG’s Avery Foley. While the edited segment is only four minutes long, the tour of the Ark lasted almost two hours, and while he was touring, Steve had lots of questions—many of them about dinosaurs (one of his dinosaur questions even made it into the final edited cut). Today we celebrate 19 years of the Creation Museum! The vision for it actually goes back to the late ’70s when I was a high school science teacher.

As I think back over nearly two decades of the Creation Museum, it’s incredible how much the museum has grown and changed.

The exhibits have been updated and expanded, many new exhibits have been installed, the grounds have matured beautifully, our zoo has been upgraded and expanded, we’ve opened our Plants of the Bible Conservatory (which, as far as we know, is unique in the whole world), we’ve added on a butterfly house, and we even opened a gorgeous new restaurant just this year. And that’s just some of what’s changed in 19 years! (And, of course, once the Ark Encounter opened, guest numbers dramatically increased at the museum—and we’re already celebrating 10 years at the Ark Encounter!).

But what I think of most as I reflect on the past 19 years of the museum are these two things:

1. The faithfulness of God. From the moment we decided to build a museum, we’ve faced opposition and difficulties. There have been many (many!) challenges along the way, and there continue to be. We’ve cried out to the Lord for help, and he’s always been faithful. The museum—which continues to expand and welcome tens of thousands of families each year—is a testimony to the continued faithfulness of God.
2. The lives impacted. Millions of people have visited the Creation Museum in the 19 years we’ve been open. During my meet and greets, I hear story after story from families who have visited and been greatly impacted. I hear many salvation testimonies (we estimate, based on our extensive guest surveys, that 30,000 people come to know Christ each year at the Creation Museum), stories of how it emboldened people to share their faith or stand against compromise, and accounts of fathers and mothers who were challenged regarding what kind of legacy they would be leaving. All these testimonies, and the many we will never hear this side of heaven, are a result of God using the museum for his glory. Praise God!

As we celebrate 19 years, join with us in thanking God for his faithfulness, praising him for impacting people through it, and asking him to continue to use the Creation Museum for his glory and the salvation of souls.

Is eating meat “inherently wrong”?

Well, your answer to that question is going to depend on your starting point. If man is your authority, then truth is subjective and completely arbitrary. One person might say eating meat is wrong, while another says it’s completely fine. Who’s right? Without a standard—an ultimate authority—both are equally subjective.

His Word is the ultimate standard for morality.

But there is an ultimate standard: the Word of the God of the universe. He is the Creator, and he alone has the authority to say what is right and wrong. His Word is the ultimate standard for morality. And this is what his Word says regarding meat consumption:

Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you. And as I gave you the green plants, I give you everything. (Genesis 9:3)

God, who owns everything, has given us permission to eat meat, just as he originally gave us the plants to eat (Genesis 1:29).

What’s incredibly ironic is that many of the people who claim we shouldn’t eat meat or kill animals are also pro-abortion—they promote, defend, or even celebrate the killing (murder) of a child in the mother’s womb! How inconsistent! I responded to this deadly inconsistency (and the hypocrisy of the person speaking) in a recent video:

May is graduation month for many students at Christian and secular educational institutions. Some graduate so they will move up a grade the next year or to mark the completion of their secondary education, and some graduate with degrees that will enable them to pursue a particular vocation.

I love attending the graduation ceremonies at our Answers Academy Christian school and seeing the children graduate from their classes. And what a blessing to hear those graduating from their senior year give testimony as to how they have been equipped to be an effective witness for the Lord as they continue to pursue their education or a job.

There’s nothing more important for any of us than that we trust Christ for salvation.

I’ve actually given a number of talks at graduation ceremonies in Christian schools or commencement addresses at Christian colleges over the years. Whenever I have done this, I have always emphasized the importance of standing boldly on the absolute authority of God’s Word and doing all they can to reach people with the truth of God’s Word and the message of salvation. After all, there’s nothing more important for any of us than that we trust Christ for salvation.

As I was thinking about this, it brought to mind two of what we could call “graduation ceremonies” that are the most important for us to participate in.

The first such graduation would be when we hear the words like those in the parable of the 10 talents/minas (which is about Jesus entrusting us with talents/resources and us faithfully using those to invest in the kingdom): “Well done, good and faithful slave. You were faithful with a few things, I will put you in charge of many things; enter into the joy of your master” (Matthew 25:23 LSB). For those who have repented of their sin and trusted Jesus Christ for salvation, those are the words we want to hear when we graduate to heaven!

I also thought of this passage:

Now if anyone builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, each man’s work will become evident, for the day will indicate it because it is revealed with fire, and the fire itself will test the quality of each man’s work. If any man’s work which he has built on it remains, he will receive a reward. If any man’s work is burned up, he will suffer loss, but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire. (1 Corinthians 3:12–15)

Yes, the Christian’s works will be judged by fire one day. Some have works like wood, hay, or stubble, and these works will be burned up. Nonetheless, these Christians will be saved, but they may not receive rewards.

Sadly, I think there will be many “smelly” believers in heaven—those who are saved but whose works are not like gold or silver or precious stones. Rather, their works are like hay and are thus burned up, in a sense, leaving the smell of fire and smoke on them. This is a reminder that we are to use the talents and resources God has entrusted us with to diligently invest in the kingdom until Jesus comes back or we go to meet him upon our death.

The second graduation Christians look forward to is when we are all at the marriage supper of the Lamb.

“Let us rejoice and be glad and give the glory to Him, for the marriage of the Lamb has come and His bride has made herself ready.” And it was given to her to clothe herself in fine linen, bright and clean; for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints.

Then he said to me, “Write, ‘Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.’” And he said to me, “These are true words of God.” (Revelation 19:7–9)

Wow! What a graduation to look forward to, when believers (the true church) celebrate the union of Christ and his bride—his redeemed people! As you think about students graduating this month, search your heart to determine if you know you will one day graduate to heaven and be at that graduation when the bride of Christ is united with him forever.

Over the years I’ve had people ask me, “If we all came from one human couple, why do we look different from one another?” People have even asked, “How could so many races of people all come from Adam?” Yes, even in the church many people have bought into the evolutionary idea of many so-called “races”! If you’ve ever wondered—or been asked this question—here’s the short answer:

There’s only one biological race: the human race.

Biblically, there can only be one race because we’re all descended from Adam and Eve.

There aren’t many different races. Science has powerfully shown that we’re all one race and that the genetic differences between people groups (what some people erroneously call “races”) are extremely minor—just a fraction of a percent!

This is not surprising. Biblically, there can only be one race because we’re all descended from Adam and Eve. Scripture is clear on this:

And [God] made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth. . . . (Acts 17:26)

And why does this matter? Well, because there’s only one race (Adam’s race), every person has the same ultimate problem—each is born a sinner in rebellion against God. And that means every person has the same ultimate solution: the last Adam, the Lord Jesus, who died and took our penalty for us and then rose from the grave.

Over the years, I’ve heard the objection over and over again that the Bible doesn’t give us an age for the earth—that’s what science is for! I usually respond a bit tongue in cheek by saying I’m glad it doesn’t, or it would have been outdated the very next year! But then I go on to explain that the Bible doesn’t give us an age for the universe—it gives us something better: a birth certificate and a detailed chronological history.

You see, Genesis 1 is clear that God created everything in six, literal, 24-hour days (learn more about how we know they were literal days in this article). That means the universe was six days old when Adam was created. We then have detailed genealogies in Genesis 5 and 10 that don’t merely provide the names of the fathers from Adam to Abraham but also their ages when they had their sons. This means anyone can easily add up the time that elapsed from Adam to Abraham (about 2,000 years). Since the Bible gives us the details to figure out Abraham lived about 2,000 years before Christ and we know Christ walked on this earth 2,000 years before us, we can determine that there’s been about 6,000 years of history.

It gives us a “birth certificate” we can use to figure out how much time has passed since the beginning.

So, no, the Bible doesn’t say, “The earth is 6,000 years old.” Earth wasn’t that old when the Bible was written anyway! But it gives us a “birth certificate” we can use to figure out how much time has passed since the beginning. (And, just as an aside, this birth certificate is why most people in the West believed the earth was just a few thousand years old until relatively modern times!)

This idea that the Bible is silent on the age of the earth was recently repeated by apologist Dr. John Lennox. AiG’s Dr. Terry Mortenson responded to that claim, along with several others. What an incredible event!

Evolutionary ideas fueled racism in the past, and they continue to influence how people see one another.

The late Voddie Baucham was a great friend of the Answers in Genesis ministry. He spoke at several of our conferences, including our 2019 Answers for Pastors conference, which was themed One Race, One Blood. At that conference, he gave a powerful message regarding the evolutionary roots of racism and how Christians, starting with the Bible, should view this issue. His presentation has recently been uploaded to our YouTube channel, and I encourage you to watch it (and find part two on the AiG streaming platform, Answers TV).

I’ve been passionate about this topic since the 1970s when I was teaching science at a public high school. During one of the classes, I shared about the tower of Babel and the truth that we’re all one race—the human race—descended through Adam and Eve (you had more freedom back then than many teachers do today!).

Afterward, several young aboriginal ladies came up to me with more questions about Babel and how we’re all related. After chatting with them, I realized the impact Darwin’s evolutionary ideas had had on them—he believed their people group was less evolved and was in fact the supposed missing link in human evolution. After that, I became passionate about the biblical truth regarding one race and developed a talk and later a book on the topic.

Well, that book is more relevant than ever—issues regarding “race” still plague our Western culture—so this year I significantly updated that book, including adding several brand-new chapters, for a new audience. They’re back for another season!

Our fantastic Butterfly House at the Creation Museum, featuring native North American butterflies and moths, is open once again for our busy summer season. This is our second year with the Butterfly House, and if last year is any indication, it will be very popular again!

Guests loved touring the flower-filled Butterfly House and being surrounded by a variety of North American species such as the iconic monarch, colorful swallowtails, and buckeyes.

Since butterflies are seasonal, the Butterfly House is only open seasonally, from May through September, so come and visit while you can! Due to the cost of replacing the butterflies and moths (they have a short lifespan, so we receive weekly shipments), there is a small fee to enter the house ($4 per person; children 5 and under are free).

The Butterfly House is part of our Creation Zoo complex. The Creation Zoo features a barnyard area, where guests can get up close with a variety of fun animals, as well as our popular Wallaby Walkabout, which allows you to walk with the wallabies and our Aldabra tortoises (who love hanging out on the path and waiting for guests to scratch their shells). We also display a variety of exotic species such as a king vulture, coatis, and a giant anteater.

Our zoo also features the Wonders of Creation stage, where our zookeepers introduce guests to a variety of ambassador animals while teaching fun facts about them, along with biblical worldview teaching about animal kinds, life in a fallen world, and more. It’s another way we reach guests—especially kids who just love the zoo and animal programs—with the message of the truth of God’s Word and the gospel.

We have a special opportunity that ends May 31. But before I get to it, I need you to first read through this blog so you can understand how important this opportunity really is.

In the New Testament, particularly in the Epistles, phrases like “put you in remembrance” or similar wording appears a number of times to remind believers of truths they should know. In the Old Testament, we see the Israelites were prone to forget their history and what God had done for them. So they needed to be reminded of this history.

Because we are fallen, fallible, finite human beings, we are apt to forget what God’s Word teaches, which is why we need to be reminded over and over again.

You know, sometimes I think we at Answers in Genesis need to be reminded about our history. That’s one of the reasons I wrote the book Miraculous! that details our journey over many years. Even as I wrote it, I was reminded of the many miracles God provided for us throughout the journey. It’s good to be reminded of what God has done for us.

Each year, I remind the staff of our Mission, Core Values, and Statement of Faith so we won’t forget those.

Why these reminders? Well, because I think when most of us are asked about Answers in Genesis, we talk about the Ark Encounter and Creation Museum attractions. After all, they are the two leading Christian themed attractions in the world and have had over 15 million total visitors since the Creation Museum opened in 2007—and the evangelistic impact is stunning.

Our ongoing guest surveys continue to reveal that around 100,000 people a year testify to being saved as a result of visiting the attractions. Also, the 40 Days of Christian Music festival (40/40 as we call it—this year is the sixth such festival) sees over 2,300 people come to Christ during the 40 days of concerts.

Of course, it’s not just the attractions that have an evangelistic impact. Many Christian leaders have told us that as a result of using our Answers VBS (it’s used by over 15,000 churches, impacting over a million children each year), they’ve never seen so many children trust Christ for salvation.

I’ve also heard numerous testimonies from people who became Christians because they came to a conference or a church where one of us spoke or because they watched our videos on Answers TV, YouTube, or listened to our daily short radio feature—the list goes on and on. The evangelistic impact of AiG is way beyond what we ever imagined it could be.

But you know what this should remind us of? That the attractions, publications, videos, etc. are actually tools to proclaim the core message of the ministry that God called us to broadcast throughout the world—the truth of God’s Word and the saving gospel message.

This month, I want to bring us back to focusing on the core message of the ministry and what that entails in regard to what happens at Answers in Genesis (and I’ll get to the special opportunity—I promise!). Let’s be reminded of our Mission Statement:

Answers in Genesis (AiG) exists to proclaim the authority of the Bible—from the very first verse—without compromise by using apologetics in its world-class attractions, dynamic resources, and creative media to communicate the message of God’s Word and the gospel so that believers are equipped to defend the Christian faith and nonbelievers are challenged with the truth of the Bible and its message of salvation.

I also want to remind us of our Core Values:

1. Serve: We serve the Answers in Genesis family and others generously, with excellence, reflecting God’s love.
2. Equip: We equip believers to defend their faith.
3. Relate: We relate the truth of God’s Word and the gospel to all.
4. Value: We value the opportunity and responsibility to publicly share biblical truth.
5. Engage: We engage nonbelievers with sensitivity and love.

Over the years, our supporters have helped enable so many different projects financially and prayerfully. You have given generously to allow us to build the Creation Museum as well as expand it and provide new and updated exhibits. You have enabled us to build the life-size Ark and exhibits and the phenomenal Answers Center that has allowed us to conduct conferences, concerts, and other events to impact tens of thousands of lives.

A lot of staff work hard behind the scenes to ensure our core message—our core ministry—is permeating in everything we do.

Now, as important as all of those projects (and many more) have been and will be in the future, this month, I wanted to remind us that a lot of staff work hard behind the scenes to ensure our core message—our core ministry—is permeating in everything we do. In other words, there are so many things going on daily to ensure we are keeping up-to-date with what is happening in church and culture to help us effectively do all we can to reach people with the solution to man’s problems—God’s Word and the gospel. And we do this in so many ways.

Behind the scenes, we have researchers, writers, editors, graphic designers, social media specialists, videographers, teachers, speakers, translators, and so many others involved in domestic and international ministry to provide all the content and resources needed so our core mission can be fulfilled, while ensuring we never waver from our core message.

So to be up front with you, sometimes we struggle to fund all that happens internally with what many of our staff are involved in for our core mission. For instance, nearly all of our international outreach has to be subsidized by Answers in Genesis–US.

I was reminded of this in February during our ministry trip to Australia. I spoke at conferences and churches in three different states, and each venue was packed! What amazed me on this tour was the large number of people who told me they remember hearing me speak when they were a young child, and now they are bringing their children to hear me.

Quite a number told me their parents (who are now with the Lord) back then had supported our ministry in Australia financially and ensured they used our resources with their children—who were now obtaining our resources for their children.

That impact was because of the core message of the ministry—teaching people the truth about God’s Word and the gospel.

I also met one lady who remembers being in the science class I taught in 1975! She said she remembered all the things I taught about creation and why evolution was wrong, and this had a big impact on her life. I heard similar testimonies from two others who were in my science classes when I was a teacher. I also heard of another lady who points back to those science lessons I taught as what the Lord used to bring her to salvation.

What hit me was that God gave me the blessing of hearing the generational impact of the ministry going back 50 years! And that impact was because of the core message of the ministry—teaching people the truth about God’s Word and the gospel.

So we now come to the special opportunity that ends May 31. A family that has been one of our generous supporters for many years, who understands the importance of supporting our core ministry, has offered us a $1 million match to encourage other supporters to give to our core ministry this month. Such gifts would so encourage us! This family will match every dollar given to the core ministry of AiG through May 31, up to a million dollars. Wow! Having $2 million for the core ministry would be such a help to AiG.

Many years ago, my parents supported a missionary couple serving in Ethiopia. I’ll never forget the time the missionaries asked for funds for a motorcycle so they could easily travel on the tracks and bad roads to reach remote villages to share the gospel. They also shared they desperately needed a refrigerator for their food to keep in such a hot, humid environment.

My father heard from them that they received twice as much funding as they needed for the motorcycle and none for the refrigerator! (They were able to buy their refrigerator with the excess money.) I remember my father saying something like, “Well, people were excited to support the means to get the message of the gospel to remote people, but they didn’t support helping to keep the missionaries alive with needed food.”

I only relate this to say I love to see people supporting all our projects but just wanted to remind us all that there is a lot going on behind the scenes that also needs support to enable us to carry out our mission that impacts lives for eternity.

This year, we’re celebrating 10 years since the opening of the Ark Encounter. Now, what does this special anniversary have to do with Mother’s Day? Well, they’re connected because our attractions—and the whole AiG ministry—are really a legacy of my parents, who are now both with the Lord.

It’s a legacy of a father who stood boldly on the authority of God’s Word and a mother who loved Jesus, loved God’s Word, and prayed.

Up until the Lord called her home, she prayed for me, my wife, our children and grandchildren, and the AiG ministry as much as she could.

We’ve seen countless prayers answered over the years, often in spectacular ways, and are so grateful for my mum’s commitment to praying for us. Yes, the Ark Encounter celebrating 10 years is more than just a celebration of what the Lord has done through that attraction (our research shows 70,000 people come to Christ each year after their visit!), it’s a reminder of the legacy of godliness and prayer that built this ministry and our attractions.

Thank you, Lord, for a godly mum.

Many years ago, I coauthored a book called Already Compromised, detailing research we commissioned on the state of Christian colleges—and the “report card” wasn’t good. Research showed many of these colleges, which looked great from the outside, were extremely compromised with man’s ideas. Instead of standing boldly on God’s Word, many of these schools sowed seeds of doubt in the minds of their students.

Things haven’t gotten any better over the years. A while ago, author Randy Alcorn published an article with an interesting title: “The Problem of False Advertising by Christian Colleges.” He writes,

Over twenty years ago, I wrote an article titled The Scandal of Evangelical Dishonesty. The subjects I addressed were uncomfortable and controversial, including the issue of false advertising by Christian colleges. But this problem has not gone away, and if anything, the situation is worse now than it was then.

I would agree—the problem in our Christian colleges has not gotten better with time. Even more have compromised on Scripture, even if their supporters and the parents of students don’t know it yet. Alcorn went on to say,

Many Christian colleges and universities routinely print doctrinal statements in their catalogs that are not believed or taught by some or even many of their professors. Years ago, the academic vice president of a major Christian liberal arts college confided to me, “If Christian parents actually knew what their children are being taught in our classrooms, they would pull them out of college tomorrow.” And, I would add, they’d never give another dime to that college.

If Christian colleges told the truth in their promotional materials, some would read like this: “Thirty-four percent of our faculty believe in the inerrancy of God’s Word. Twenty-one percent of our science teachers believe the biblical account of creation. No one in our psychology department believes in the doctrine of original sin. Two out of our three sociology teachers are proabortion and defenders of homosexual lifestyles. The director of our philosophy department is an agnostic. The head of our Bible department hasn’t attended church for ten years because he doesn’t believe in organized religion.”

Why not be honest and admit this publicly? The answer is simple: So Christian parents will keep paying to send their students there, and so the college’s major Christian donors will keep sending money.

He then cautioned parents not to just assume that because a college says it is Christian, or uses the right words in its marketing materials, that the school really does stand boldly on Scripture or teaches a biblical worldview. I offer the same caution.

Most parents, I believe, are non-discerning when it comes to sending their children to a “Christian” academic institution. So much more research and discernment are needed as parents are really gambling with their children’s minds and thus their eternity.

Most Christian colleges don’t actually offer that, even if they advertise it.

If you are wanting to send your child to a Christian college (or you are attending one yourself), you’re probably doing it because you want them to have a wonderful Christian environment, be taught through the lens of Scripture, and graduate better equipped to serve Christ however he has called them to. Most Christian colleges don’t actually offer that, even if they advertise it.

You must do your due diligence to dig past the marketing, speak with actual professors or deans at the college, and find out what the school really believes (looking at their social media and who they invite or whose posts they share is a great way to start). Don’t make the investment until you know for sure that this college is worth it!

This event is free for students in grades 7–12 and features colleges and universities from across the nation that take the same stand we do on the authority of Scripture and the age of the earth. It’s a great place to start your search (of course, you still need to do your own due diligence).

A church in South Carolina has been in the news lately after it posted a video showing the graduation of its 2026 “Gracism” class, who all left as “ministers of reconciliation.” What is “gracism”?

It appears the church training came from a group called Gracism Global, which defines the word as “extending positive favor to other people regardless of, and sometimes because of, their color, class, or culture.” Their website doesn’t give much more information than that beyond “The Eight Sayings of a Gracist”:

1. I will lift you up
2. I will cover you
3. I will share with you
4. I will honor you
5. I will stand with you
6. I will consider you
7. I will celebrate with you
8. I will heal with you

When you read through the short description of each of these sayings, it sounds very much like typical DEI trainings that emphasize and draw attention to so-called “race” and divide everyone into either oppressed or oppressor classes, simply based on what the person looks like on the outside (for example, under “I will share with you,” it says, “Opening up networks and resources to others who are systematically downtrodden, and refusing special treatment that may hurt them”). Of course, the words used can have so many different meanings, it’s hard to know what’s really meant by them (which might be purposeful!).

As AiG speaker Bryan Osborne shows in his book Woke Injustice, the world’s way of dealing with racism—which is often adopted by the church—not only doesn’t work, but is completely unbiblical. It always ends up watering down the gospel or teaching a “new gospel” (which Paul says is no gospel at all).

The true answer to racism is not highlighting our differences and emphasizing them over and over again. Nor is it judging people based on the shade of their skin (this happens constantly in woke/DEI trainings—anyone with a light shade of skin is automatically an oppressor, and anyone with a dark shade of skin is automatically oppressed). The true answer to racism is understanding the human race based on biblical history and the gospel of Jesus Christ.

The ultimate problem isn’t skin—it’s sin!

If we want to end the sin of racism, we must teach the biblical truth found in Genesis that we’re all one race (which has been confirmed by science), all descended from Adam, and therefore all sinners in need of a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. The ultimate problem isn’t skin—it’s sin! That’s the root cause of racism, and the only answer to this spiritual problem is a spiritual solution: the gospel! It’s our busy spring season, packed with back-to-back events—including our recent outreach to the Deaf community, Deaf Days, at the Ark Encounter and Creation Museum. This event impacted around 300 Deaf guests this year!

Our 2026 Deaf Days theme was Identity—a vital topic in today’s culture and the perfect tie-in to our brand-new Radiance exhibit at the Creation Museum. Each speaker, either in ASL (American Sign Language) or with an interpreter, addressed the issue of identity from a biblical perspective through personal testimonies and teaching sessions. I had the privilege of presenting One Race, One Blood, affirming the truth from God’s Word that we are all descendants of Adam, created in God’s image. It took 45 dedicated volunteers to pull this event off, including both Deaf individuals and ASL interpreters.

This year, we also saw an increase in Deaf/blind guests and guests with low vision, and we were pleased to offer interpreted tactile experiences at both attractions for them.

The Deaf are one of the largest unreached people groups in the world. We’re grateful for the opportunity to partner with many Deaf ministries as we boldly proclaim the message of salvation to the Deaf community. Throughout the year, we continue this outreach by providing ASL interpreters during the summer season, offering ASL music videos for our Answers VBS, providing ASL interpretation on select conferences on Answers TV, and more.

Well, the associate professor of biology at the University of Minnesota–Morris, P.Z. Myers, who has been obsessed with me and AiG for years, recently wrote a blog about me titled, “Waiting for Another Creepy Old Man to Die.”

He ended the blog stating: “That’s a problem with authoritarian cults. They are ruled for life by unpleasant, weird people who alienate everyone around them, and maybe instill in them the ambition to be in charge on their own. I hope I outlive Ken Ham, because I’d really like to see the chaos that will follow on his death.”

As we know, God’s Word states that,

For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die. (Ecclesiastes 3:1–2)

So when any one of us dies is not up to what some atheist professor wants. God is in control of both Myers’ life and ours.

But this pagan university professor, who has continually blasphemed and mocked God and Christians, needs to wake up and take note of God’s warning:

And inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment. (Hebrews 9:27 LSB)

And if Myers continues in his willing ignorance and rebellion against God, he will suffer a second death after the first death:

But for the cowardly and unbelieving and abominable and murderers and sexually immoral persons and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death. (Revelation 21:8 LSB)

I would ask us to all pray for P.Z. Myers as he is well on his way to a Christless eternity. He is 68 years old (younger than me), but God could end his earthly life at any second.

I thought I would start off with this today as I want to remind us all that we are in a spiritual war. And this war is raging about us even more aggressively now than we’ve experienced in the past here in the West.

Years ago, someone said to me, “If you stand on the devil’s toes, he reacts. You guys must be kicking him in the shins.”

As we move the battlefront forward, proclaiming God’s Word and the gospel, we expect the enemy to fight back.

Recently, I’ve seen a level of hate against us that seems to be growing. And really, we should expect this. As we see the enormous number of people saved through this ministry, including over 100,000 a year at the attractions alone, we know the devil will be active. Actually, I believe that because we are in a war, if we’re not getting opposition, we should ask ourselves what we are doing! As we move the battlefront forward, proclaiming God’s Word and the gospel, we expect the enemy to fight back.

Just to give you a sampling of the enemies of God lashing out at us (reminding us of this spiritual war we are in), I will include just a sampling of the 20,000+ comments on one of my Facebook posts. The post was short:

Now, there were over 20,000 comments on this post, the majority from enemies of God! Let me share some with you:

Okay, you get the idea! There were thousands like this, many of which I would not put in this letter because they are so perverse. But should we be shocked at such a response from the world? Actually, we shouldn’t. But this last one I’m including is extremely sad because it highlights the state of the majority of our Christian institutions:

So many young people from the church have gone to a compromising Bible college/university and come out believing no different than those who posted the comments I included above. A sad state of affairs but a situation that has greatly contributed to a lukewarm church that is, by and large, not impacting the church and culture as it should.

We really are in a raging war. That’s why Apostle Paul uses so much war terminology, reminding us to put on the whole armor of God so we can fight in this battle.

Now we also need to be reminded that this is a religious war.

Consider the atheists and other secularists (and even some people who identify as Christians) who went “ape” over my post. Over 90% of the comments were negative and most of them were highly emotional in attacking me and what Scripture teaches about origins—blaspheming God, attacking the Bible, many mocking me with the worst kind of profanity, and questioning my intelligence (the word idiot was used hundreds of times!). The emotions on display exposed thousands of evolutionists passionately defending their belief system. So many were so profane or blasphemous that we hid their comments. Obviously for them, origins is more than a science issue. Their worldview is challenged by the Bible.

The evolutionary worldview is a religion, one that’s practiced by those who attack Christianity. They have a nontheistic religion; in fact, evolution fits one of the Merriam-Webster dictionary definitions of religion: “a cause, principle, or system of beliefs held to with ardor and faith.” The dictionary definition of religion certainly describes the worldview of evolutionary naturalism. The beliefs of evolutionism purport to explain the entire world’s existence by means of evolutionary naturalism, and thus, it is an all-encompassing faith—a religious worldview.

Furthermore, the secularists who publicly argue against biblical Christianity (like the thousands on my Facebook post) have their own religious cause to promote as they zealously defend their belief in a naturalistic system of origins. What else would you call what they practice but a religion?

And following the definition above, because zealous evolutionists hold their beliefs with “ardor” and “faith,” they can be described as evangelists for their worldview—defending a belief system that informs how they wish to lead a life apart from God. So by this definition and what we saw from the zealous, angry evolutionists on my Facebook page, evolution is a religious faith. And thus, its avid proponents are religious.

As I say in my talks, in an ultimate sense, there are only two religions in the world—one based on God’s Word and the other based on man’s word.

I have a multiple-choice question for you. Hopefully if you’ve been following my blog for a while, you can get the correct answer! Ready to challenge yourself?

Over the years, I’ve asked this question when speaking to churches or other groups, and I find most people answer with A: No, they’ve always lived in Australia. (Is that what you guessed?) This question is one of many I ask to help people learn how to develop a truly Christian worldview.

After finding most people give A as the answer, here’s what I do next. I ask a series of questions:

• How many of you believe in Noah’s ark? Most hands go up.
• How many believe two of each kind of land animal, including the kangaroo kind, went on board the ark? Most hands go up.
• How many believe there was a global flood? Most hands go up.
• How many believe the ark landed on the mountains of Ararat in the Middle East? Most hands go up.
• How many now believe kangaroos once lived in the Middle East? People laugh as their hands go up.

So what’s the correct answer? It’s C: Yes!

In our anti-God, anti-Christian age, a biblical worldview is desperately needed—and we can even use kangaroos to begin to develop it!

But most people don’t get it right because most people have not been taught to think with a biblical worldview by building their thinking on the Bible. Most churches haven’t taught how to develop a truly biblical worldview. Instead, many Christians have been very secularized, adding the Bible to their thinking rather than starting with God’s Word as the foundation.

In our anti-God, anti-Christian age, a biblical worldview is desperately needed—and we can even use kangaroos to begin to develop it!

In over 50 years of traveling and speaking on Genesis, biblical worldview, and apologetics, one comment I continue to hear over and over again is, “I grew up in the church my whole life, and I’ve never heard any of this!” Why is it that so few Christians can answer the skeptical questions of our day that attack God’s Word—particularly, Genesis?

Well, I’ll give you three reasons:

1. They’ve compromised with the atheistic ideas of our day. So many Christians have adopted evolutionary ideas and added them into Scripture. This makes it impossible to answer basic questions about Genesis because, well, you don’t really believe Genesis at all! Man’s interpretations are your authority, not God and his Word.
2. Many Christians don’t know what the Bible teaches. We’re living in a time of rampant biblical illiteracy. Many Christians can’t answer questions because they don’t know what the Word of God teaches.
3. There’s been a lack of apologetics (faith-defense) teaching in our churches and homes. Many Christians attend churches that preach “feel good,” or what I call “fluff and stuff,” shallow messages, rather than actually teaching the biblical worldview and wrestling with the questions of our day. Many pastors purposefully avoid Genesis because they don’t want to be controversial! But Genesis is foundational to our biblical worldview, so avoiding Genesis means that pastors will also avoid talking about hot-button issues that are answered in Genesis, like gender, sexuality, race, sanctity of life, and more. The result is generations of Christians who don’t know what they believe or how to defend the truth of Scripture.

In a recent YouTube video for the Answers in Genesis Canada channel, Calvin Smith (our AiG–Canada director) expounded on these concerns, showing how Christians cannot answer questions until they take Genesis as literal history. Streaming giant Netflix recently released a brand-new documentary miniseries titled The Dinosaurs, featuring lifelike animated dinosaurs and narration from Morgan Freeman. But was the documentary scientific?

Well, AiG paleoartist Joel Leineweber recently filmed a response to The Dinosaurs, examining the artwork and “science” of the series in light of what we find in both the fossil record and the Word of God. I encourage you to watch it.

Unsurprisingly, The Dinosaurs is filled with atheistic evolutionary teaching and a big push to make dinosaurs seem very birdlike (to try to indoctrinate people with the evolutionary belief that dinosaurs evolved into birds). Of course, we’re not surprised—Netflix certainly isn’t trying in any way to push a biblical worldview!

According to God’s Word, children are a blessing and a gift from God to their parents. This means they are not a commodity to be acquired by any means necessary by anyone. That should be an obvious truth, but in our day and age it’s not. What do I mean by this?

Well, modern reproductive technologies allow children’s genetics to be selected from a catalog, with the sperm and egg “donors” (really sellers) being chosen for their IQ, appearance, or accomplishments. IVF allows babies to be sorted according to their genetics, with those whose genetics don’t “measure up” being thrown away (literally thrown away as medical waste—killing [murdering] a human being made in God’s image). Homosexual parents, who could never have children on their own, can purchase eggs and sperm and even rent a woman’s womb to create a child who is purposefully deprived either of a mother or a father. It’s tragic, and it’s the commodification of children.

Foolishness is always the end result of rejecting God’s Word and starting with human “wisdom” instead. “Claiming to be wise, they became fools” (Romans 1:22).

And this foolishness has been on clear display through the words of Texas Democrat James Talarico, who claims that God is “nonbinary” and that the Bible sometimes refers to God “as a female.” Biblically, this is nonsense—and AiG’s Dr. Terry Mortenson and I explain why in this video:

He’s leading others astray, and according to God’s Word, he’s a wolf who is perverting the grace of God into an excuse to sin.

But Talarico is not just a politician—he is also apparently attending a Presbyterian seminary (don’t worry, his seminary certainly won’t be coming to our Creation College Expo this November!). Sadly, his anti-biblical beliefs are becoming increasingly common among theologians and scholars, not because the Bible has changed or because it isn’t clear but because they’ve taken their own ideas and added them into the text. And they are notorious at taking verses out of context. They’re doing eisegesis (into), not exegesis (out of).

I doubt Talarico’s pastor is calling out his heresy and false teaching—but that’s what he needs! He’s leading others astray, and according to God’s Word, he’s a wolf who is perverting the grace of God into an excuse to sin.

I found it necessary to write appealing to you to contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints. For certain people have crept in unnoticed who long ago were designated for this condemnation, ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our God into sensuality and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ. (Jude 1:3–4)

Mally and I took some of our children and grandchildren to see this excellent new movie produced by Sight & Sound Theatres in honor of America’s 250th anniversary. We all loved it! It’s one of the best movies I’ve ever seen. It’s emotional and very convicting—a movie about the life of the famous preacher George Whitefield. I was so thrilled our family could see this.

Noah’s flood was a global flood. That means the water totally covered the entire globe.

There’s really no way to get around it, unless you’re willing to do hermeneutical (interpretative) gymnastics with the Bible. Both the Old Testament and the New Testament affirm the global nature of the flood.

For behold, I will bring a flood of waters upon the earth to destroy all flesh in which is the breath of life under heaven. Everything that is on the earth shall die. (Genesis 6:17)

The flood continued forty days on the earth. The waters increased and bore up the ark, and it rose high above the earth. Man’s interpretation of geology is now the authority, not the Word of God.

And yet despite the absolute clarity of Scripture, so many scholars, Christian leaders, and others still insist the flood could have been local. That’s not because of the text—it’s because they have already adopted the idea of millions of years of slow and gradual processes. Man’s interpretation of geology is now the authority, not the Word of God.

Dr. Hugh Ross is one of these compromising leaders who has adopted man’s ideas and added them into the Bible, including in a new book that he recently talked about with Eric Metaxas. I responded to their interview in this video posted to our Answers in Genesis YouTube channel.

It’s so discouraging to see men like Dr. Ross and Eric Metaxas influencing so many people to abandon the authority of God’s Word and instead adopt man’s word as they reinterpret the clear teaching of Scripture. It’s an attack on biblical authority.

Because of men like them, so many Christian colleges and other institutions have likewise abandoned biblical authority, adopting man’s word as their real authority. I am very thankful for the minority—and, sadly, it is the minority—of Christian colleges who stand on God’s Word in every area from the very first verse, colleges like Maranatha Baptist University, one of our official partnership colleges.

Located in Watertown, Wisconsin, this school—which offers dual enrollment, undergraduate, graduate, and even seminary degrees—exists to “develop leaders for ministry in the local church and the world ‘to the praise of his glory’” (a mission statement taken directly from Ephesians 1:12 KJV: “That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ”). They believe the “primary purpose of every Christian is to glorify God through one’s chosen occupation and church membership, and by serving others in God-honoring ways.”

It was such a blessing to be able to share the foundational importance of Genesis to our biblical worldview and the gospel message, along with an emphasis on biblical authority, with them.

The founder of Liberty University, the late Dr. Jerry Falwell, loved the AiG ministry and organized for the university to grant me an honorary doctorate on May 7, 2004. Dr. Falwell visited the Creation Museum not long before it opened in early 2007, the year he went to his heavenly home. Consider groups like the Jehovah’s Witnesses, Mormons, and many other cults that use the Bible to justify their unbiblical positions. Or the many Christians (and professing Christians) who try to justify positions they personally want to hold to—such as gay “marriage,” flat-earth theories, that we supposedly shouldn’t judge anyone, etc. How can this be?

Well, in a way, people can use the Bible to justify any position they want. It happens all the time. They do this by taking verses out of context, quoting only part of a verse, claiming that the meaning only applied in a past culture, and so on.

If the Bible really is God’s Word and is infallible and inerrant, then we must let it speak to us in context.

It really comes down to how one views Scripture. If the Bible really is God’s Word and is infallible and inerrant, then we must let it speak to us in context, considering the type of literature being used (e.g., the book of Psalms is written in poetic language, but Genesis is a historical narrative), the rules and mechanics of the original language, etc. As I say, we need to use the grammatical-historical interpretive method.

I bring this up because the governor of Kentucky (Andy Beshear) recently used the Bible to supposedly justify his position on supporting transgender surgeries and hormone treatment for minors who claim to be transgender. This governor supports transgenderism, the LGBTQ movement as a whole, abortion, and so on. His worldview is not biblical at all.

We and other Christians like Al Mohler, the president of Southern Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, have taken the governor to task over his claim that he uses verses about loving others as a basis for vetoing legislation that bans transgender procedures for minors. If the governor truly loved people (including children), he would be doing all he could to stop the murder of children in their mothers’ wombs and to outlaw these harmful transgender procedures and “treatments.”

Now, Answers in Genesis has been dealing biblically with the LGBTQ issue for a long time. As part of that, we recently opened the beautiful Radiance exhibit, which is based on God’s clear Word understood correctly. As our Creation Museum website says,

Radiance features stunning displays that challenge guests to consider their identity in light of the Bible. Special effects and dramatic lighting illustrate both the turmoil and darkness that exist when someone has rejected their biblical identity and, conversely, the beauty that’s revealed when someone turns to the truth.

At the heart of this exhibit is a desire to see everyone, particularly young people, understand the truth regarding their identity—that they are made in the image of God [and created either male or female]—and to help equip family and friends of those struggling, so they can help their loved ones through these emotionally charged crises.

We hope that this exhibit will help many discover their true identity rooted in Christ and find the peace and freedom that can only come from our good God.

He is risen!

Today is Easter Sunday, when we specially celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, the God-man, from the grave. There is no event so central to the Christian faith as the physical resurrection of Christ—it secures our present hope of forgiveness and new life in Christ and our future hope of life everlasting.

And if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain and your faith is in vain. We are even found to be misrepresenting God, because we testified about God that he raised Christ, whom he did not raise if it is true that the dead are not raised. For if the dead are not raised, not even Christ has been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins. Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. If in Christ we have hope in this life only, we are of all people most to be pitied.

But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. For as by a man came death, by a man has come also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive. But each in his own order: Christ the firstfruits, then at his coming those who belong to Christ. Then comes the end, when he delivers the kingdom to God the Father after destroying every rule and every authority and power. For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. The last enemy to be destroyed is death. (1 Corinthians 15:14–26)

(You’ll notice the Apostle Paul directly connects Christ’s death and resurrection with a historical Adam. Yes, the foundation of the gospel really is in Genesis!)

So how should we celebrate this greatest of all events? Well, I recently filmed a video sharing my thoughts on Easter traditions and how we can use this holiday to point kids toward the Savior. You can watch that video below:

I was raised on God’s Word from the time I was very young. I don’t remember a time when I didn’t know that Jesus’ death on the cross wasn’t the end but that, three days later, he rose again! I’m sure that’s true for many of you reading this. But have you ever stopped to think that, as a young child, you knew something that Jesus’ own disciples didn’t understand—at least not right away?

After Jesus’ death on the cross, his disciples scattered, hiding in fear for their own lives. We have no evidence in the Gospels that any of them expected Jesus to come back from the dead (even though he’d told them he would!). Even after the tomb was discovered to be empty, they still struggled to understand.

And when they saw him they worshiped him, but some doubted. (Matthew 28:17)

But when they heard that he was alive and had been seen by her, they would not believe it. (Mark 16:11)

But these words seemed to them an idle tale, and they did not believe them. (Luke 24:11)

Then the other disciple [John], who had reached the tomb first, also went in, and he saw and believed; for as yet they did not understand the Scripture, that he must rise from the dead. (John 20:8–9)

Even in the midst of the heaviness of the cross, every Christian has a heart of joy and hope because we know what the disciples didn’t—Sunday morning came, the tomb is empty, and our Lord is risen to reign forevermore!

Yes, every single Gospel mentions that the disciples didn’t understand! It wasn’t until they saw the risen Lord, and ate with him and talked with him, that they believed and then began to boldly speak of him everywhere after the Holy Spirit arrived at Pentecost.

Every Good Friday, millions of Christians gather for a service to remember the sacrifice of our Lord on the cross. It’s a sober service, focused on the cost of our sin and the sacrifice that was necessary for us to be forgiven. But even in the midst of the heaviness of the cross, every Christian has a heart of joy and hope because we know what the disciples didn’t—Sunday morning came, the tomb is empty, and our Lord is risen to reign forevermore!

And keep in mind that what we celebrate at Easter is fulfillment of the promise in Genesis 3:15:

And I will put enmity
Between you and the woman,
And between your seed and her seed;
He shall bruise you on the head,
And you shall bruise him on the heel. (Genesis 3:15 LSB)

A stunning new exhibit called Radiance has opened at the Creation Museum. It is so different from any other exhibit here at the museum and features special lighting effects and a unique way of teaching content.

So what is Radiance all about?

Simply put, it’s about identity.

Now, identity is a big issue with today’s generations (particularly millennials and Gen Z), as the LGBTQ worldview has permeated so many people’s thinking, causing much confusion. Not only that, but we live in a time when many of the younger generations have been indoctrinated to believe their worldview (including what they believe about gender, marriage, abortion, and so on) is really their identity. Therefore, if someone disagrees with their stance on these issues, they see that person as attacking their identity (and thus attacking them) rather than disputing their ideas—and they’re being taught to see it as actual violence against them.

Put another way: Today, even words are considered violent!

And many of the younger generations have been brainwashed to believe they have a right to respond to “violent” words with physical violence.

This indoctrination and confusion is purposeful, and it’s being displayed publicly for all to see. (For instance, consider the recent Senate hearing in the US where a reproductive health adviser, an OB-GYN, refused to say whether a man can become pregnant.)

We now see this verse from Isaiah playing out before our eyes:

Woe to those who call evil good and good evil,
Who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness,
Who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter! (Isaiah 5:20 LSB)

It has occurred to me that what is really happening can be summed up this way: God is the Creator and therefore owns everything and defines everything. But man is wise in his own eyes and wants to be his own god (Genesis 3:5). But because man cannot create like God, he takes what God has created and redefines it in the opposite direction—thus, good is “evil” and evil is “good”; male can be “female” and female can be “male.”

Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes
And understanding in their own sight! (Isaiah 5:21 LSB)

It’s a sad state of affairs, but as Christians, we must stand for the truth. We need to be shining the light of God’s Word on such issues.

And that’s what we’re trying to accomplish with the Radiance exhibit, which focuses on helping visitors, especially young people, discover their true identity as being made in the image of God. Radiance uses immersive art, light effects, and interactive elements to explore themes of purpose, value, and identity rooted in the Bible and in Christ.

Through this exhibit, we teach the truth about gender (there are only two for humans: male and female) and the truth about what being made in the image of God means. That mankind is made in the image of God and therefore has infinite value—after all, God, through his Son, paid the penalty for our sin and thus provided the way of salvation offered to us.

At the end of the exhibit, an interactive challenge is used to show how, when we trust Christ for salvation, each of us can uniquely radiate the truth of God’s Word and the gospel (and the truth concerning gender, marriage, and so on) to a lost world.

This building will also house our coming scale model of Jerusalem. Our design teams are doing a phenomenal job recreating first-century Jerusalem. This scale model will be the most accurate and up-to-date when it opens. Stay tuned for more exciting updates about this ongoing project.

Many years ago, I wrote a short blog post that highlighted a quotation I had found from Chuck Norris, talking about evolution. I thought I’d share that again here:

But here’s what I really think about the theory of evolution: It’s not real. It is not the way we got here. In fact, the life you see on this planet is really just a list of creatures God has allowed to live. We are not creations of random chance. We are not accidents. There is a God, a Creator, who made you and me. We were made in His image, which separates us from all other creatures.

By the way, without him, I don’t have any power. But with Him, the Bible tells me, I really can do all things—and so can you.

Whenever a believer passes away, I’m reminded of this verse:

Precious in the sight of the Lord
  is the death of his saints. (Psalm 116:15)

Something new is coming to the Creation Museum!

Last spring we opened our stunning Butterfly House, located near our unique Plants of the Bible Conservatory and beside the Creation Zoo. Guests have loved meeting our beautiful butterflies as part of the zoo and botanical gardens experience (Note: Because of the cost of the butterflies that need to be replaced every couple of weeks, the Butterfly House does require a separate ticket). And that experience is about to get even better with our Creature Feature exhibit house.

Located between the Butterfly House and the Plants of the Bible Conservatory, this exciting new exhibit area will showcase:

• Eight incredible invertebrate species, including emperor scorpions, giant millipedes, tarantulas, and more
• Four species of snakes
• Five species of lizards
• Two amphibian species
• An ornate box turtle
• And two fish tanks, one of which will exhibit blind cavefish

Our exhibit artists and content writers, along with zoo staff, have outdone themselves in the design of this new building. It’s really unique, and guests will absolutely love it. Entrance to the Creature Feature will be included with Creation Museum admission.
