But did you know there’s a long list of creatures that live today and are also found buried in the same layers as dinosaurs? This list includes rabbits, squirrels, possums, beavers, parrots, owls, penguins, flamingos, frogs, salamanders, boa constrictors, iguanas, crocodiles, crayfish, sharks, crickets, cockroaches, and more!

This isn’t surprising to biblical creationists. God created all living things over six days, so of course dinosaurs lived at the same time as everything else. And we find them buried together because of the global flood.

Scientist Richard Lenski has been growing the bacteria E. coli in the lab for over thirty years. That’s over eighty thousand E. coli generations.

Lenski’s work is often touted as evidence of evolution in action. You know why? Because a certain gene that’s normally switched off is now switched on. But that’s not evolution! The information was already there, and lab conditions made it beneficial to switch that gene back on.

What Lenski’s experiments are really showing is that bacteria remain bacteria. After 80,000 generations, his E. coli haven’t gained any new information and they never will!

Is doubting evolution the same as doubting gravity? Well, here’s a simple test of this claim. Drop something and see what happens. It fell to the ground, right?

Now, take a single-celled organism and turn it into a fish. Can’t do it? Well, that’s the difference. Gravity is observational science. We can directly test and observe it and we can repeat our experiments. But evolution supposedly happened in the past. It’s not directly testable, observable, or repeatable.

Gravitational theory and evolution are two different kinds of science. One is observable and the other is not—and never will be!

Jesus once said, “from the beginning of creation, God made them male and female.” Notice Jesus said from the beginning of creation—not millions of years after the beginning!

You see, if you believe the universe is billions of years old, then we were created billions of years after the beginning. And that means Jesus was in error when he said we were created at the beginning!

But Jesus is God and the Bible tells us God doesn’t lie. If Jesus lied about the age of the earth, how can we believe anything he said? Instead of trying to fit man’s ideas into the Bible, we need to start with God’s Word. The universe is young!

A few years ago a study found that those who claim they’re not religious, but who still want meaning in their lives, show a greater belief in intelligent aliens. So, they reject God but embrace aliens!

I was once told about a dating website for polygamous relationships. Yes, the idea of having multiple spouses or “open relationships” is quickly becoming more accepted as people reject God’s definition of marriage and instead embrace the idea that everyone can live with whatever makes them “happy.”

But “happiness” is not the definition of morality or marriage! God’s Word is. In Genesis, God created male and female and brought them together to become one flesh. Marriage is God’s institution because he created it. We don’t have the authority to define what God has created.

I once saw a study that claimed cities are driving evolution and “spawning new species” in as little as twenty years!

But what do they mean by “evolution”? Well, they say “evolution” refers to the frequency of certain genes in a population. In other words, it’s the frequency of genes that were already there! That’s not evolution—nothing new was created!

What these researchers observed wasn’t evolution—it was adaptation and speciation within a kind because of already existing genetic information. These observable processes are consistent with the Bible’s teaching about kinds.

A few years ago Chinese scientists announced they’d cloned a species of monkey and news reports boasted that humans were next. This kind of research on human embryos is consistent with the evolutionary belief we’re just animals, so cloning humans is no different from cloning monkeys.

But in a biblical worldview, we recognize that humans are made in God’s image, distinct from the animals. We’re not just animals. We shouldn’t support attempts to clone humans. Cloning is incredibly wasteful, with hundreds of embryos—in this case, precious human beings—dying in the attempt. Human life—don’t throw it away for research.

A few years ago I saw this headline, “Missing Link Dinosaur Discovered.” Now, they know most people won’t read beyond the headline to discover the facts for themselves. But what were the facts?

Well, researchers had discovered a new Archaeopteryx fossil. Now Archaeopteryx was once thought by evolutionists to be a missing link between birds and dinosaurs. But now most researchers agree it was just a bird! So, the headline should’ve read “Fossil Bird Discovered” because that’s what they found!

Don’t just read the headlines, especially if something contradicts God’s Word. Look for the facts, not the evolutionary spin.

The Bible’s message is one of good news! It tells us we can be reconciled to God and have eternity with Christ. But it’s only good news if we know the bad news. We need to know why we need to be reconciled to God and why we need forgiveness if we’re going to understand how good this news really is.

Genesis tells us God created a perfect world, but Adam, the first man, rebelled against God and brought death into creation. We all sinned in Adam, and we continue to sin. We’re in rebellion against our Creator, and there’s nothing we by ourselves can do about it!

That’s why Jesus came and paid our penalty! That’s the good news!

This relatively small-scale event points to a much larger event in the past. The flood of Noah’s day would’ve ripped up forests around the world. All this debris would’ve formed floating mats of vegetation which would’ve been caught by ocean currents. These mats would’ve helped distribute plants and animals around the world after the flood.

Have you ever grown a garden? It can be frustrating work fighting off the weeds and insects. Sometimes it even seems like nature is against us, making our jobs more difficult.

Well, that’s not how God originally designed it to be. In God’s “very good” creation, Adam’s work of caring for creation was a joyful task. But, after sin, God cursed the ground, so it now produces thorns and thistles. The Bible tells us all of creation groans because of sin.

But there’s hope! Because of Jesus’ sacrifice for us, someday those who trust in him will dwell for eternity in a new heaven and new earth where the curse will be no more.

People often wonder why there’s so much hate in our world. Why is there racism, wars, and acts of violence?

Well, we find the answer in God’s Word, and it’s a short answer—sin! You see, originally, God’s creation was “very good.” Adam and Eve lived in perfect harmony with one another, with God, and with his creation.

But sin changed everything. Because of their rebellion, we all have sin natures. And this sin nature often manifests itself in hatred of others.

People hope for world peace but, ultimately, any real peace only comes when we first have peace with God through a relationship with Jesus Christ.

Our world is filled with beauty—and ugliness. So much life—and so much death. Why is it like this?

Well, this isn’t the world God made. Genesis tells us God created a perfect world, a “very good” creation free from death and suffering. It was a perfect paradise.

But everything changed when Adam rebelled against God. His choice brought death and suffering into creation. Now all of creation groans.

But that’s not the end! Jesus, the God-man, took our penalty of death on the cross so we could be saved. Someday those who trust Christ will live forever in a new heaven and new earth where there will be no more death or suffering.

Christians like me who stand for biblical marriage are often told we’re part of a “hate group.” But does standing opposed to sinful behaviors mean you’re hateful? Can we be loving and still be opposed to these things?

Well, the Bible tells us that God is love and describes homosexual relations as an abomination to the Lord. If God—who is the very one who defines love because he is love—can be loving yet call homosexual behavior a sin, so can his followers.

There’s nothing hateful about pointing out sin—it’s actually the loving thing to do! We want to see people repent and put their faith in Christ and be saved for eternity.

A few years ago, a group of professing Christians were raising money to pay for transgender surgeries as a way to make amends for hurt the church had supposedly caused transgender people. The campaign told people to “put your tithe money where your beliefs are.”

This group is ignoring truth. You see, God’s Word tells us he created male and female. God is our Creator, and he has defined us as male or female. Some people who struggle with this issue look to surgery for freedom and peace. But that won’t fix their biggest problem—everyone is a sinner separated from God. It’s the gospel that fixes that!

I once heard of a church that said they wouldn’t perform any more weddings until their denomination allowed them to marry same-sex couples. The pastor claimed the church had chosen “to stand not for issues, but for people.”

But what they’ve really chosen is to stand against the Word of God. They’re placing themselves in direction opposition to God and his Word by condoning and celebrating sinful behavior.

Advocating for sin and trying to help people live a life of sin isn’t standing for people—it’s really standing against them. Sin always leads to brokenness and pain. But repentance and the gospel lead to freedom and life.

Some Christians claim Jesus never directly addressed gay “marriage” so he must be fine with it. But Jesus did address this issue!

Jesus said, “haven’t you read that God created them male and female” and that a man and his wife “become one flesh?” Jesus quoted from Genesis to answer a question about marriage. He’s reaffirming God’s design for marriage to be between one man and one woman for life.

And remember, all of Scripture is the Word of Christ, so we look to all of God’s Word to see what Jesus says, not just the gospels. And throughout Scripture he clearly defines marriage as one man for one woman.

Marriage has been redefined around the world, particularly in the West. But marriage isn’t ours to define. You see, marriage isn’t ultimately a government, social, or cultural institution. It’s God’s institution!

Genesis records the origin of marriage. God created male and female and brought them together to become one flesh. This first marriage establishes God’s design for marriage.

In the book of Judges, we read about a time when “everyone did what was right in their own eyes.” That’s America today! You see, in the past, America was a Christianized nation. People more or less started their thinking with a Christian worldview. We don’t have that shared foundation anymore.

We now live in a time where we think we set the rules. And, of course, if sinful, fallible human beings are the standard for morality, then sin is going to be normalized. As the prophet Isaiah put it, people will call bitter sweet and sweet bitter.

We can’t look to our culture for our morality. We need to go to God’s perfect unchanging Word.

A German study found that being in a group can influence normally honest people to behave dishonestly. They found this was especially true if money was at stake. In the study, there was a financial gain if people gave dishonest answers, and they found the participants worked together to justify lying. If everyone was doing it, being dishonest seemed more acceptable.

But our morality shouldn’t be based on what everybody else is doing! Morality comes from God’s Word. You see, God is our Creator so only he has the authority to set the rules. Instead of looking to everyone else, we need to go to God’s Word for our morality.

One study found that people’s views on being selfish change depending on how common the behavior is. They found that if everyone is being selfish, people didn’t view it as negatively as if only a few people were doing it. The researchers argue that this shows how social norms change over time. But should our views about morality be determined by the majority?

No! Popularity doesn’t determine morality! If we determine right and wrong then it’s merely based in our own opinion. And if my opinion differs from your opinion, whose opinion’s right?

We need to look to the firm foundation of God’s unchanging Word for our morality.
