The works of Charles Spurgeon have inspired millions of Christians around the world for over a hundred years. His wisdom and insight into God’s Word and world have helped others discover the richness of Scripture. Answers in Genesis is pleased to present the text of a large collection of sermons from this 19th century “Prince of Preachers.”
It is one of the “little Bibles,” as Luther used to call them; the gospel in a verse, the essence of the whole Bible is here.
It is not from materialism that a curse comes upon the spirit of man; but it is from the erring spirit that the curse falls upon the material creation.
Do not rest content until you have that perfect peace which he alone can give you, that peace which is here called “rest.”
We must be satisfied to give up anything which Christ may require of us for the sake of what is yet to come. Our inheritance is not on this side of Jordan.
God is able to guard you from stumbling; his ability is to be employed for your good; his power is intended for your keeping.
If you seek salvation or want comfort, never rest satisfied with the mere word of man. Do not be content unless you get the truth from the mouth of God.
This will be our endless theme throughout the eternal ages, “His great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in sins.”
See what death is to the believer. It is only a departure. It is a departure after a day of service.
Abraham’s life, taken literally, is full of instruction; but we shall be wise to take its spirit, and endeavour to make it our own.
It was because Daniel, while still a youth, a captive, a student, was so decided in what he did, that his later life became so bright.
Everywhere in the Scriptures, the great word is not merit, but grace; not deserving, but receiving freely from the great mercy of our God.
May the Lord, in mercy, send to some religious services a resurrection! A living God must be worshipped in a living way by a living people.
When persecution has arisen for the truth’s sake, David’s seat has been empty. If martyr days should come back again, could we vacate our places?
The resurrection of Christ is a foundational truth; and if it was taken away, much more was gone than some supposed; indeed, everything was gone.
Ezekiel’s wife died. His heart was bleeding; but he received orders from his divine Master that he should not mourn, nor weep, nor make a sign of mourning.
Paul was no sooner converted, than he was ready for holy service; and “immediately he preached Christ” in the synagogues at Damascus.
We must never neglect to pray to the Lord who alone can give, to the natural world, clear shining after rain.
He put away sin; he did not merely try to do it, but he actually accomplished the stupendous work for which he left his glory throne above.
If he had prayed half as much when he was in the palace as he did when he was in the cave, it would have been better for him.
If any lover of the souls of men would do for them the best possible service, he would constantly take them near to Christ.
In the things of God, we are not left to follow our own judgments and devices; but we are to look to the law and to the testimony for our instructions.
I take this text so that I may deal with some people who have found Christ, and are saved, but who are now troubled because it seems too good to be true.
The great gate between heaven and the town of Mansoul is Ear-gate. We can see very little of the things of the kingdom but we can hear much concerning them.
Jesus was too intent upon saving her soul to care about a little rudeness on her part. Learn a lesson from your Lord’s conduct.

These sermons from Charles Spurgeon are a series that is for reference and not necessarily a position of Answers in Genesis. Spurgeon did not entirely agree with six days of creation and dives into subjects that are beyond the AiG focus (e.g., Calvinism vs. Arminianism, modes of baptism, and so on).
